So just found out yesterday we will probably be stationed (dh is coast guard) to Guam next year. Not only that, but he will be gone for one to two weeks at a time then home for the same. I know Guam is beautiful, but I have never been alone with Emily for any long period of time. Any advice from others with traveling husbands would be great!

Oh wow, that should be exciting!!!

My husband doesn't travel too much but he works very long hours and sometimes goes days without seeing Arie awake...I don't have any words of advice because I don't really know what its like to have a hubby around during awake hours very much. My only advice is to make friends because I tend to get lonely during the day. I go out shopping quite a bit just to get out.

My father in law was born in Guam and he and his brothers and sisters have fond memories of living there. I hear it's gorgeous.

I don't have a traveling husband so I'm no help there.

But my brother was stationed in Guam for a couple of years (Navy) and still has a house there (although I think he's trying to sell or rent it out still). He's in Japan now but I think he will probably move back there if he ever gets out. He'll probably either move back there or Hawaii, where he was stationed first. I think he said their both pretty similar as far as climate but Guam is way more affordable. He was even part owner of a bar in Tumon for a while while he lived there.

I'm guessing that it would be quite an adventure moving to a small island with a little one! I hope you are able to adjust easily and can enjoy your time there!
