Glad she did okay. Hopefully now she won't suffer so much anymore when she gets and infection and all the fluid will drain properly.

Lyla just woke up from a 3.5hour nap and is as happy as can be. Had a little dried blood in one ear, but other than that, no issues. I'm hoping she's going to heal just perfectly.

I am glad it went well. Do you mind sharing how it was done? Did you go to the hospital w/ Lyla or was it outpatient? I think they put Lyla under for that procedure right? i hope she won't have any ear infection any more!

We were given two options: go to the hospital where they would put Lyla completely under or have it done in the doctor's office with a local anesthetic. We opted for the local at the doctor's office because putting Lyla under comes with more risks. They took Lyla back (we waited in the waiting room) and strapped her to a papoose board and numbed her ears with drops. They said this would be the only pain she felt, but my big girl didn't even cry! They put a tiny incision in the ear drum and insert the tube. The whole procedure took less than five minutes. Lyla only cried when the nurse brought her out and she wanted us to hold her! She fell asleep in the car on the way home and slept for 3.5 hours.
We were told she still had some yuck behind her ear drums and gave us a prescription to put in her ears to clear it up. She had some drainage last night and this morning that is kind of like snot! (Sorry!!) She did have some dried blood in one ear this morning, but that is normal.
Overall, it wasn't nearly as bad as I had built it up in my mind.

That is great!! I think we are going to be doing tubes pretty soon too, we have a doctor's appointment in a week to find out. I would love if our doctor could do it without putting her under. That is the first time I have heard of that.

Liam will be going in July 20th for his tubes
they unfortunately only do the procedure at the hospital
they don't put him fully under, but they do give him anesthesia kind of like at the dentist, but again in and out in ten minutes

Oh the procedure sounds much better than what I had envisioned. I thought she would have to be put under. That sounds much better and less scary how they did it at your doctors' office. Thanks for sharing.
