So after a horrible dressing room experience at target today (thanks great lighting), I have decided enough is enough. I'm tired of having a pudgy belly and cellulite dripping off my thighs. Those ofnyou that have lost the baby weight, how did you do it? I'm gonna start going to the gym at 8 every night ( when em goes to bed), so dh can play his video game and be there. My main problem is food.....i love southern food! Sweet tea, macaroni, potatoes, etc. I need support!

For me I get to the gym everyday no matter what. Or I at least get out for a walk.

Thoughts for you as this is my field.....people who carve time for workouts in the morning tend to be more successful long term. It's because we get busy and tired by the evening and it's easier to put off. Join a class or find a workout buddy or buy a few sessions with a personal trainer to keep you accountable. Don't go to the gym and just do 30/45 mins on a piece of aerobic equipment at a steady pace. Try to do intervals of hard/easy instead and weight lifting to increase lean mass and therefore increase metabolism.

The only problem with mornings is I don't have anyone to watch Emily. We have a workout room here at our complex, so dh has to watch her. I would rather work out in the am, but once school starts back, I already wake up at 530 for work, I know I won't get up any earlier.

I LOVE Weight Watchers so far. My big problem is food, also. I LOVE fatty, yummy food, and I'm not good at cutting back or counting calories. The points system just keeps me in check, and I hold myself accountable for everything that goes in my mouth. I also go to the Y about 4 times a week. I've been doing that since Leah was 4 months, but it hasn't done a thing for me as far as weight loss goes. A healthy diet is sooo necessary to lose weight.

For me, it's all about food. I can PT all the time, but if I don't adjust my eating habits, not an ounce comes off. I've found something that works for me. I'm good for breakfast; it's usually pretty healthy. Cereal or oatmeal & fruit. I have a snack (like the Special K bars) between breakfast & lunch.

Then for lunch & dinner, I eat my veggies first & then have a small portion of regular food. I don't stress too much over what the "other" food is, but I try to keep it reasonable. We had pizza at the office the other day & I ate 1 slice & my salad. For me, eating the veggies 1st, fills me up & I don't pig-out on whatever else is in front of me. I keep baby carrots in the fridge at work so I snack on those instead of other junk. I started this about a week ago & am down 4 lbs. I'm sure that will be out the window this weekend, but it's a holiday. And I'll start back up again after the 4th.

The best first step you can do for diet is try to write down everything you eat for 1 to 2 weeks. Don't worry about cutting/modifying anything. The goal is to just become a conscious eater.

I can only work out in the morning. If I don't do a workout before 9 am, it's just not going to get done. I eat some eggs and drink some coffee, workout and then drink a protein shake. I eat protein only lunch and dinner and on saturdays I go nuts. but i have been slacking the past month

Unlike the others, I think nursing really has helped me lose the weight. I don't work out nearly as much as I used to. Even though I work out about 5x/week, most of it is just plugging along on the Elliptical at a steady pace while I read something else for work. I can't eat dairy, so I suppose that has a lot to do with it.

I lost all my baby weight within a couple months (thanks to BFing/pumping) but then I gained about 10 pounds back after I stopped...and then I lost it again...and then I gained 10 pounds moving last month. What I found is that exercise is great at keeping me toned but it really is about what you eat (and how much of it) that really controls weight.

With that said I really need to start exercising again and keep my husband from coming home with fast food.

I love healthy food and cooking healthy and I love the way I feel when I'm eating healthy, it just takes that much more time to make it and when I'm chasing after Aaron I don't have the energy too most of the time.

You're an idiot!

Jess, I feel your pain....I think finding a support group helps stay motivated. I am also a fan of Weight Watchers. They have a great program.
