What are your thoughts on chiropractic care? Do you and/or your kids see a chiro? I know so many people swear by it and I've heard of some people who think of their chiro as their primary care provider and some even have their newborns adjusted after birth. I've never been to one but lately I've been wondering if there's something to it. DH and I watched an episode of Penn & Teller a couple years ago that was sort of anti-chiropractic, but it's been a while and I don't remember exactly what their beef was with it. Personally I think I would just be nervous to go to one but I'm curious about it.

I saw one for back pain during pregnancy and he was excellent. However, I dont really think I would choose to see them for primary care. However I just read a super interesting article from the Atlantic recently on alternative medicine. It was posted on my FB wall in the last 2 days....good stuff.

Dh has been to a chiro a few times for various things and it has worked wonderfully for him. I'd definitely try it to help with certain issues.

I took Avery during all the ear infection problems we were having with her. She had had that awful ear infection for 3 weeks & I took her to the chiro for about 5 visits & it cleared up. I honestly don't know if it was the chiro or not, but I'll take it. I was taking Ethan, too just for wellness visits. I will say, I've been a slacker with it lately... just not enough hours in a day.

I would say that if you decide to go, do your research. Some chiros are wonderful, but we know a neurologist who says he's seen quack chiros do nerve damage. I was nervous, but desperate. I got a recommendation from a friend who takes her kids to the same Dr, so was more comfortable that way.

I saw a chiro for 3 months until I could simply no longer afford it. I've never been so pain free and so happy as I was in those 3 months. I have scoliosis and degenerative lower back because of my three pregnancies. It helped SO MUCH. I still do some of the same stretches and crack my back several times a day for relief...but I would recommend it for ANYONE who has chronic back pain.

I would LOVE to see a chiropracter. I know I need some adjustments b/c my spine is crooked and I am positive it would help with my headaches. But our insurance doesn't cover it. I think it might cover Active Duty military, but not family members. And it just isn't in our budget at the moment.

I see a chiropractor pretty regularly due to a mild scoliosis and frequent neck pain. It really helps with those problems but I wouldn't go just for wellness visits and I would be scared to take my kids. I guess I worry about the whole issue of becoming dependent on the visits to feel normal and my chiropractor doesn't seem to emphasize that type of care. He wants to solve whats bothering you and help you not need him as frequently.
If you are ever interested in trying it I can give you his info. He's in the Highlands and I really like him.
