As our babies all celebrate their 1st birthday please keep in mind the dangers of turning them to the forward facing position too soon. I don't get up on my soap box that often but this is one topic that I have become very passionate about. Even if you have decided to turn your 1 year old forward please take a moment to review the links I have provided.

Why extended rear facing?

Thank you for these links. DH and I have gotten into several arguments about leaving Ethan rearfacing. I believe in leaving them rear facing as long as possible...he thinks he should be turned around. I told him over my dead body

I love the 1st link with the myths.

Especially the ones about motion sickness & "My 14-month-old hates riding rear-facing – and wants to ride forward facing". I always was worried about motion sickness for Sophie since I had it so bad (still do, lol)

Sophie loves rear-facing, and I got this for my car - Amazon.com: Lamaze Ride and Play Fun: Baby - she is amazed by it, lol

I just want to add that my first DID hate to be rearfacing, and it was the reason I turned her. I couldnt take the screaming anymore, and I would even cry because she was screaming so much. IT WAS AWFUL. The first day I moved her she stopped. That quick. Each parent will have to decide what is right for their family. I personally wont be turning Kaileigh anytime soon. She loves the way she is riding, she doesnt cry in her seat (like she did at 6 months old) and I have no reason to turn her.

So really, the myths are only considered myths by the pedi who wrote the article and as we've all learned with our own pedi's they dont always know that is best for our child. Mothers know best.

yes please keep those babies rearfacing! turning them forward is NOT a milestone! I hope this becomes a law.

I have zero plans to turn Ty until at least he turns 2, and I am only turning him once his legs are too big to be rear facing anymore...sometime after 2 y/o.

I have to admit, I read that same myth & thought to myself "Well, obviously she's never met Ethan." He hated it. I was preggo with Avery & could barely get him in the seat by myself because of the fighting & screaming. He was 18 months & 28 lbs when I turned him FF (he's now almost 3 and about 37lbs, so would just be ready to turn FF by weight standards, although I think he would've surpassed the height restriction by now). Luckily, Avery doesn't seem to have an issue with it. I think she likes that she can see Ethan & he plays with her. It cracks me up to hear them back there playing & laughing.
