I am having a guilty conscious about not having a big party for Tommy. We had one for dd, we always have big parties, I feel like he is being cheated. Our lives are so crazy right now, we are preparing to move from pa to ma on the 15th of August. So I would have to have it here before we leave around the 13th but it just seems like it will be too hectic with packing and getting things ready to move. Not to mention we will be on vacation the first week of August. We are going to Disney and thought maybe that we can celebrate there, but it is kind of early. Most of my immediate family will be there. I will be living in Ma on his actual 1st birthday with no family to celebrate. I just don't know what to do. I feel bad about just having a cake at our new place to celebrate. I am so overwhelmed with everything going on in our lives, and the party is adding to my anxiousness...

I am in the same boat. Plans got changed on me last night. I am happy DH will be home however he may or may not be here on her actual birthday. I am glad his TDY got shortened. However the plan was Rosie and I were going home while he was gone. And we were doing her first birthday with family. She was going to have a party and all that. Plus it was going to be one of the last times I got to go home before the baby is here.

With his TDY being shortened it is not worth the cost in going back home. I could fly but then I would have pay to have mail stuff and all that. I just hate this sometimes.

But alas like Bree said it don't matter to them. Its more us who cares..lol Besides I think doing it at Disney would be cool.

Hey, you gotta do what you can. Tommy isn't going to know or care as long as he gets to eat that cake! Maybe you can just make up for it next year.

definitely don't feel bad! celebrate at Disney with your family and some cake and whatnot, then on his actual birthday have some cake at home to mark the occasion. Tommy won't know the exact date of his birthday party when he's older and when you say "we celebrated at Disney" he will think it's cool.

Nathan isn't getting a party because we're going on vacation the week after and don't have the money. we're just going out for lunch and we'll have cake and presents.

Thanks for making me feel feel better. I know he won't know, I just had plans for this cute themed party. I just have to realize it's just not possible.

Stephie...that really stinks about the party. I hope you can get a hold of everyone to cancel. It is so stressful moving, let alone to another state. Good luck with it, I hope everything goes smoothly.

A family party at Disney sounds awesome! I dont think that is anything to feel guilty about.
