So I thought we were off to a good start, but apparently not. He had a good day or two where he seemed to drink enough milk but now he will not drink much milk at all. Maybe 2-3 ounces at meal times, it seems. I'm constantly trying throughout the day to get him to drink but he'll take a sip and that's it.

I thought maybe the flow on his cups was too slow but it doesn't matter what kind of cup I use really, he just doesn't seem to drink much. He's not eating much at meals time either and he's being very picky and I'm quickly getting frustrated and nervous that he's not eating enough. The doctor said yesterday that his iron was slightly on the low side so I'm supposed to give him some poly-vi-sol drops and I just want to make sure he's getting enough nutrients through is food and milk. He's obviously not starving, though, because I'm sure he'd be letting me know.

Anyway, when do your babies drink their milk? Do you just give it at meal times or throughout the day? How much are they drinking? His doctor said he should be getting 16-24 oz. and I'm not even sure he's getting 10 oz.

Maybe he's teething? I think that's like the answer for everything until these kids start telling me different!

At this point Im not even counting. I try to keep in mind that I dont pour myself exactly 6 oz at every meal, and chug all of it. So with that in mind, I would just offer him a cup of milk. If he only drinks half, put it in the refrigerator and offer the remainder in about an hour. Same thing each meal. I know I personally dont chug my drinks, and I find myself sipping on them all day. Along with she has a cup of water always out, so if she's thirsty she just get her cup on the table. I know she gets plenty of liquids but she doesnt drink it all in one setting.

I wouldn't worry about it, Noah usually only drinks about 8 ozs or so I think he'll only drink about half a sippy per meal and then water throughout the day. Just make sure he's getting nutrients through other things. As far as eating kids go through phases of eating very little and then they will eat a ton, their little bodies know what they need.

I need to remember this. I wonder if teething may be playing a part too - I think he's close to tooth #1. I know it's just a transition period and eventually he'll get to where he's eating more and hopefully he won't always be so picky. And hopefully he'll start drinking more eventually too. I don't even think he's had 8 oz. of milk today though - I keep trying different cups and tried milk in a bottle but he wouldn't take that either. It would be nice if sippy cups had oz. markings on them so I could keep better track. We'll just keep on keeping on with the whole milk, I guess. I'm wondering if I should keep giving him a little formula at night for a while, though, just to make sure he's getting enough. I did the last two nights and last night he only took 4 oz. and didn't seem too interested.
