This is a continuation of the my other thread, but I think I narrowed down my main issue. Arie is drinking enough whole milk during the day.

My issue is she still wakes up twice a night and won't go down for anything, except for a little formula in her bottle...actually, that isn't true. She'd probably go back to sleep if I gave her a little milk as well. Water doesn't work. She'll scream and scream. But I'm giving her super watered down formula and that does it.

Soon I will be out of formula. Should I buy more? I don't know if there is a 12 month growth spurt, but as far as I can tell on these boards, other babies (save for some breastfed co-sleeping babies) aren't waking up multiple times a night for food.

Again, it might just be because we moved, but I don't like that I can't get her back to sleep (rocking, diaper change, walking and swaying) without giving her some food. Its not like she has super high metabolism, she's in the 50th percentile for weight.

Yeah I would get more formula and gradual wean her. Well if regular milk works then don't buy anymore formula.... just use the whole milk. Like you said you are giving her super watered down formula and it makes her happy. I think eventually you could just keep decreasing the amount until its little to nothing. It looks like you are doing great because if she is taking the watered down version and satisfed than you are one step closer...Just my opinion

Also the fact that she is taking watered down formula tells me that she is not waking up because of hunger per say.. maybe thirst, but not hunger.

I personally wouldnt buy anymore formula. What I would do it give watered down milk. The reason why, is so she doesnt get used to a bottle of whole milk and her her enjoy it and want more and more each night and you can slowely add more water, less milk, until she just doesnt want it anymore.

I promise, this wont last long.

YES!! That's what I was thinking...I don't think its from hunger otherwise, that wouldn't satisfy her. I kinda felt bad in the other thread, everyone was like "Go with your mommy instinct, you know better than the pediatrician" and I felt bad because my mommy instinct is that I need to break her of this bad habit! lol I know she is cutting her molars (when she is super cranky and constantly pulling on her ears, I give her tylenol or motrin) and we just moved so a lot is going on so I'm trying to be patient but I also don't want this to go on longer than it needs to.

Shannon, that is a great idea about the watered down milk!! I REALLY didn't want to buy anymore formula. Right now I am done with my last official "can", but I have a bunch of those travel enfamil 2-scoop packets... once those are done I'll try the watered down milk but hopefully she'll be done with the night wakings by then.

Thanks ladies!!
