Caleb 1 Mommy 0

I waited until DD was 2 1/2 to take away her paci and it was a week long fight. I was able to deal with the tantrums and crying but I only had one kids at the time. I promised myself that as soon as Caleb turned one I would take the paci away cold turkey and never look back. Well I didn't plan on this coinciding with teething! We made it 8 days and I finally hung my head in defeat and purchased some pacis (I had thrown them all out). Eight days of screaming from the time we woke up until the time he went to bed topped with teething pains like I've never seen. Babies poor upper gums are swollen and bloody....and these are only teeth number 3 and 4!! But if Caleb having a paci helps me keep my sanity than I guess it's worth the "he's too old for that" comments I get when we are out and about...

Anyone else fight the paci battle? Maybe I'll try again at 18months ....

Im sorry the battle has been so hard. Just try again when you both are ready. I had NO intentions of taking it away all the time. My plan was just day time, and she could have it at night, but I just went with the flow, and we are paci free for 1 week today!

Luckily Arie has always ONLY taken a pacifier when sleeping... She never put one in her mouth herself (also, never fed herself a bottle, she is a princess baby apparently lol) so that's probably why.

The past few days she has rejected it though, so I think we are done. I'm about ready to toss all of hers. She loved the pacifier for her front teeth but seems to be over it for her molars.

Good to hear this. Maybe we can ditch it after his front teeth are all in.
