Live alone or with someone? Who? My friend Jordyn then a month after dating, darwin.
Why did you want to move out of your parents? I was ready since I was 16! haha. I was mentally ready for it when it was time. I wanted to be able to go out when I pleased and not have a freaking curfew (I had a curfew till i moved out!)
How did your parents feel? My mom was mad at me! lol she told me I couldnt take my dresser or bed. but I at the end she supported it. My dad was sad when i told him. he was holding his tears. but they both knew it was time and I was ready.

I moved out at 18, into a dorm at e university of Alabama
I lived with a girl from high school that I barely knew, turns out she was dirty and liked to have random guys over. Keep in mind how small/not private a dorm room is.
I moved out to go away to college. Four hours away was a lot back then.
My parents were happy, but sad because I was the baby. I'm back home mow,but probably moving to Guam next summer, lol.

Live alone or with someone? Who? I roomed with a girl I didn't know. We are still great friends today.
Why did you want to move out of your parents? I moved to get the heck out of my home town and to go to college.
How did your parents feel? I really don't know.

Live alone or with someone? Who? with my bff Ronda...I went to college but only for 6 months because I didnt like it but my bff and I rented apts together until I was 20 and moved to NC with first dh
Why did you want to move out of your parents? because I was going to go to college 2.5 hours away
How did your parents feel? I only lived with my mom anyway because my parents split and my dad moved out when I was 14 y/o, but my mom was fine with it I suppose since I was going to college

I was going to college.
How did your parents feel?
They encouraged it. My girlfriends and I were so "wild" and my boyfriend (and future ex-DH) was such a stick in the mud---like he was seriously the most negative person ever, lol. So they felt MORE comfortable me living with him than girlfriends in a dorm. They even paid 1/2 of my rent as long as I kept my grades up, which was a WAY CHEAPER for them considering what the cost of living in a dorm was.

How did your parents feel? I think they were kind of sad because it was so far away, 8 hours from home.

Is going to college really moving out on your own? I guess it is if you never come back. Well, I moved into an apartment when I went to pharmacy school, so I was 22, but came back almost every weekend, and then I was living at home during my pharmacy rotations until I graduated at 27. I was even living with my parents for 6 months after I got married to finish my prgoram

they were glad I was in pharmacy school
I think our culture is a bit different, kids (even adult kids) don't usually officially move out until they get married, unless they get a great job somewhere else. And even when you get move out, there is a strong link to the parents. I was actually thinking about this the other day when I was wondering why some moms are so sad to see their kids grow up...I actually think I'll enjoy my kids the most when they are adults

What age did you move out on your own? I was 18 when I moved to college. I lived in a dorm, though. So I consider when I was 19 and moved to my first apartment as the first time I lived "on my own."

Live alone or with someone? Who? Alone for two years, then with a roommate who I was good friends with at college. Then we moved to a house she got with her job.
Why did you want to move out of your parents? I was going to college far enough away that I needed to live there. I adore my parents and I didn't really ever mind living with them, but I loved having the freedom living on my own gave me too.
How did your parents feel? They were really fine with it. I don't think they ever were sad really. Of course, I visited a lot and still do.

What age did you move out on your own? Not including college, I moved in with my boyfriend when I graduated. I think I was 21.

Why did you want to move out of your parents? Thought I was ready to live with my boyrfriend and wanted to move on to a new stage in my life.
How did your parents feel? I don't remember them being thrilled but I don't think they put up much of a fight. I wish they had but I probably would have done it any way. I was only a few minutes away but I think they knew he wasn't the right one for me. There was no telling me that though!

Why did you want to move out of your parents? I was just ready for freedom. I graduated highschool at 17 so I still had curfews and rules I hated so I was gone. Dh was 20 and still had a curfew and rules, so we just got our own place.
How did your parents feel? My mom was fine with it, his mom-ummm, not very happy, his dad was fine with it though.

Why did you want to move out of your parents? I was ready to be on my own & Brian & I wanted to live together.
How did your parents feel? My mom was cool with it, but it took my Dad a little while to come around.

Live alone or with someone? Who? With my boyfriend at the time of only 2 weeks (and he ended up being the father of my 5 and 3yo).
Why did you want to move out of your parents? Because I wanted to be able to sleep with my boyfriend lol. Seriously. I wanted to grow up fast. And grow up I did. I moved in the week after Christmas and found out I was pregnant in February
How did your parents feel? I was slowly going back, getting a few outfits here and there, telling my parents I was just "staying overnight and needed more clothes". Finally one day my mom said "I know what you're doing, just take it all in one fell swoop lol!"
They didn't like it but let me make my mistakes.....but at least I have Alex and Cady to show for it! (AND I did finish my college degree!)
