To go with today's QOTD.

I tried the sippy cup with formula today after Rosie's nap. And she fought it but once she got a taste of the formula she took it. YAY. However she gulped it down in like 3 minutes if even that. Then of course she freaked out because it was all gone. It was 6 oz. I mean when she has a bottle it will take her a good 10-15 minutes to eat no matter the flow of the nipple (slow or medium) or if its 4 oz or 8 oz.

I mean there is water in her cup now and she don't want it so I assume after the initial shock of being gone she if satisfied. But dang that just seems way to fast.

Now how do you do the milk thing. I mean right now she gets 1 bottle at wake up8 oz, 1 either before or after her nap 4-6oz , same with afternoon nap(all depends if she does this one) 4-6 oz and then one before bed 8 oz.. She is getting around 24-32 oz a day depending on the day.

Do you do milk that same? I mean thats a lot of milk in a week..lol We have to go ahead to start mixing milk with formula now but totally forgot to ask how much a day of milk she should be getting once on the full transition. Guess looking for averages.

She won't have her 1 yr appointment for another month yet. But if I can keep this sippy cup up then it will make the transition a lot easier...lol

I've only been giving Ellie 8-10 oz of milk in a sippy cup right now because she's still nursing, especially at night. Really, that's the same amount of pumped milk she was taking a daycare. She tends to do a majority of her nursing/drinking when I'm at home in the afternoon and evenings.

I started giving Paige milk in a sippy cup a couple weeks ago, she does great. She stills nurses, I just give her the milk with meals. For anyone nursing I would suggest giving milk with meals. I don't have any suggestions regarding FF moms, sorry!

I started with milk in a sippy at meals. We are still working on getting her to take it all the time in a sippy instead of a bottle. Some days I think she'll start taking it all the day, but the next she throws it at me (literally).

I think the milk req. for 1yr olds is 12-16oz a day.

LOL yeah this morning was a lets try the sippy and she threw it at me too. She wasn't having it so I gave in and gave the bottle. I think if I can get her to do the 2 afternoon ones in the sippy for now that is progress.

Anytime I put formula in a sippy cup it all goes to waste. He might take a few sips only then throw it around. But he will drink water from a sippy.

I know we have talked about this before, but what kind of sippy cups are you using? Yesterday I gave my LO one with a hard spout for the 1st time and I think it works better although he has to work harder to get water out of it. He didn't spill as much as he usually does. He chews all the rubber\sillicone spouts and breaks them, and tons of water dribbles out of his mouth. Today I will try it with formula and see what happens.

I haven't actually tried milk in his sippy yet, but he does great with his water. He's about to be 11 months so I think I better start trying it!

Jack gets a 6-8oz bottle of formula after breakfast, then a 6oz bottle of milk after lunch, and another 6-8oz bottle of formula before bed. I don't really give him sippy cups very often. I'm completely cool with him using a bottle until he's 18 months or so. I'm not in any rush to wean him from a bottle.

I use a nuby soft spout one that she likes. The top isn't all soft so I like those.
But I also have a few playtex hard spout ones that she does fine with but I noticed she is spilling more with that one so I think the valve is bad.

Great question! I was wondering this myself. As for a sippy cup, once he got out of daycare for the summer, I just gave him a sippy cup and the bottles went away. He took to it just fine.

Miranda will drink approx. 26-30oz of milk in her bottle per day. I give her as much milk as I used to give her formula. Granted, some days she drinks more and some days she drinks less. Just depends on how much other food she's eaten and what her mood is like. I only give water in the sippy cup, cause she won't drink her milk that way.

I've already started S on milk he kept stealing B's cup and now he's down to two formula bottles a day and it's a fight to get him to take those he refuses formula in a sippy really just doesn't care for it anymore once his bday gets closer we will just quit cold turkey what I done with B too I make sure they are used to a sippy first though he has had one to carry around all day since around 7/8 months that I'd put water in and now that he knows what it is it makes weaning so easy
