I'm having little luck with sippy cups. Omair doesn't understand how to use a straw, and I've tried the nuk transition sippy cup thing, where the sippy spout is silicone like the nipple. He just chews on it and gets aggrivated. He uses a normal cup, but of course I have to hold it and it spills everywhere. He has a cup that is meant more for toddlers that controls the amount of liquid coming out, but is designed more like a standard cup. He likes that one, but it's not spillproof.
What do you ladies use? Any recommendations as to something that I can transition him to? Thanks!

we tried every single fancy sippy cup out there and the only one Ross will use is the cheap little plastic "take and toss" brand ones that came with his little dishes. They suck and they leak and when he throws them the lids often pop off but he can drink from them

Thanks! I think I'll just buy several different types at the store today. It's getting embarrassing when I'm with other moms of 1 year olds who are using sippy cups and I bring out the ol' bottle. sigh.
Lori, do you know what brand the cups in the first image you posted are? And Bree, are those in the pic I'm referring to like the take and toss ones you use?

Orion hated the Nuk sippies. He couldn't use a straw until about a month ago but I don't give him a sippy with a straw.
The ONLY sippy is the 6+ month sippy that Aventi makes. Seriously a life saver. Now Orion can drink from all sorts of cups because of that. Give it a trip! NOT the 12+ month because the spout is different. Start him with the 6+ one.

Holden has done really well with the take and toss cups. I've been giving him water in those for a few months. But like bree said, they leak and Holden loves to throw his cups when he's finished drinking and the lids pop off quite easily so I wont put anything other than water in those.
I bought some new cups yesterday, they're Nuk brand, not sure what they're called, something sport, I think, for 6+ months. He seems to like those so far. However, I don't know about Omair, but Holden has never been picky about what he drinks from. He went from breast to bottle to different types of nipples to sippy cups with no problem what-so-ever.
Good luck finding one! Hopefully you can find one easily without having to waste money trying to find the perfect one.

I got the take and toss ones and omair is doing pretty well in them! it's slow, but he's starting to figure it out!
I haven't had any problem with the lids popping off yet. I actually find them so tight its really hard for me to get them on and off. Maybe they solved the problem? I did notice the packaging said dishwasher safe, but that they last longer through hand washing (which I've done with these). Maybe the hot water and heat from the dishwasher soften the plastic up too much so it's loose.

We have the playtex ones that are posted above and the nuby no spill ones where the top isn't all silicone. The hard spout one she loves for water but would not do formula out of it. I tried this weekend. However the nuby one she will do formula out of now. All our cups are the 4+ to 6+ month range.
I plan on buying some take and toss she is a thrower so I can see my luck being the lid will pop off and I have a mess..lol

Take & Toss never fair well with my children.. they ruin them far too easily. Lose lids. Its annoying haha.
We always start with the Nuby, the 3rd photo Lori posted. Bishop is so-so with it, but we are pushing it more. He needs to get used to it. He has stolen Dane's sippy several times so maybe we might try that. It's the hard lid Playtex ones with Toy Story on them. Hmm, tomorrow we shall try.

I think I've figured out that any soft tip Omair gets confused thinking it's a bottle. But the hard tips he kinda understands it's something different and he works on it more instead of expecting a bottle and not getting it.
I've decided to give him formula in the bottle, but water and enfagrow in the sippy cups. Hopefully the taste of enfagrow is similar enough to formula that it will help me wean him completely from the bottle.

Nuby! They are the only kind Jackson will use. We have a couple of hard spout ones but he can't get the hang of it.
