Have any of your LO's who have received this vaccine gotten a few chicken pox? Kellen has several - one on his nose, a few on his rear, and a nasty one on his ankle. His mood is great and not signs of fever or itching. I'm a little worried for DH when he gets home because he's never had chicken pox.

Nope, we do vaccinate though.

I have a little story to share though. I got chicken Pox when I was 4 years old. My cousins both had them and then I got it. I was covered from head to toe. I had them everywhere, and even in my ears, mouth, and private areas. I was put in the hospital from them and was hallucinating. The Dr told my mom it was the worst case he had ever seen. To this day I will be 26 in a few months and I have some NASTY NASTY scars from them. The only visible scars while wearing clothes are on my left shoulder, so it can be seen when I have a tank top on, I have 2 on my chest that can be seen when wearing a shirt, and one on my leg. The rest are all hidden. 2 of the scars formed into Keiloids which are disgusting, and can be removed at times. I had one removed and it grew back in about a year so I gave up and it's just a part of me now. I will spare ya'll and not show pics unless you would want.

I vax'd Leah when she was 2 and she didn't have any symptoms. I won't vax the boys until their 18 or 24 month appt.

Your DH might have a natural immunity, I haven't had them either---but some people think that you get shingles as an adult with chicken pox. You can only get shingles if you've had chicken pox, but you can still get adult chicken pox. (Which is sort of the reason we haven't vax'd Sophie yet)

I might when she's older (The pedi also said it can be dangerous to pregnant women to be exposed to chicken pox) but I'm pretty sure you can be tested for the immunity.

My brother is the opposite, he has no immunity to them, and I believe, has had them 4 times!

We've had no pox from the vaccine.

If your husband doesn't have a natural immunity, he could have gotten the cp from your son even if your son never got any pox from his vaccine. The chicken pox vaccine sheds out the vax'ed person's feces, nose drips, and saliva. You can get a titer test done for your husband to find out if he has an immunity to the chicken pox. I'm thinking my husband should have one done too. He's never gotten the chicken pox either.

Good points! Shannon - that sounds really awful!! I have one scar on my lip from the pox...I guess I had a fairly mild version though.

DH is out of town so he hasn't been exposed to Kellen yet. I'm wondering how long Kellen will be contagious? No new pox today and the ones that were there have already faded.
