We were going to go to the beach for Sophia's 1. Birthday but now we are having a big shingding. It kind of got out of control w/ the invites and we are expecting 30 adults and 12 babies/children. Pretty much everybody RSVPd they can come.

I wanted to make the cake myself (like you talented ladies) but I would have to make 4 or 5 practice cakes since I haven't made cakes in a long time. I ordered one from the supermarket. I know it's not that special but at least it will look nice and not like Sophia made it. LOL. At first we were going to get the cake from an actual bakery (like a fancy cake) but decided against it, b/c we are trying to keep things in perspective.

This week will be a lot of cleaning and setting up for me. My inlaws are coming a couple of days to watch Sophia so I can get stuff done outside and run to stores w/o having to take her along. It goes so much faster w/o baby.

Oh they are calling for 30% chance of rain for Saturday (day of birthday party) and I want to have it mostly outside. I cross my fingers (maybe you girls can do some additional finger crossing) that it won't rain.

Anybody else prepping for a party? How is it going?

I still have a few more weeks, but ours is small so other than food prep and house cleaning I shouldn't have too much to do. I've already planned the menu (finger foods) and I'm going to make DH & the older kiddos fill the water balloons bc I hate doing that.

I went simple this time around bc Macie's party is the same week school will have started so things will already be hectic.

Glad your ILs will watch the baby - definitely makes running errands easier!

Fingers crossed that you have great weather. That is so nice that you are gonna be able to get some things done without taking Sophia along....shopping is so much easier when you don't have kids with you.
We still have about 3.5 weeks until Isaac's birthday party and it isn't going to be as big as yours (probably 12 adults and 9 babies/kids) but I'm starting to slowly get things together so I'm not all stressed out right at the end.

Good luck. Luckily we don't have any real prepping to do. My parents may or may not be here so if they don't get here it will be just DH and I and Rosie.

Fingers crossed for good weather!

Sounds like its going to be a great time

I ordered my oldest sons 1st cake. I wasn't into baking then haha. Now I'm cheap and have all the stuff to make it so I'm going to. Have a blast! Can't wait to see photos if you post any
