My LO has been horrible the past few days with night waking and being fussy & clingy during the day. Last night I was up from 2:30-5am rocking him then putting him down and watching him freak out, then repeating it over and over. The last 2 times he had phases like this he sprouted a few teeth right afterward. I am hoping that this is all related to teething but I don't know for sure. Can it be separation anxiety? If I leave him with my mom or MIL he is fine. Can separation anxiety affect babies only at night? I just don't know what else to do. I am going to try the twilight turtle nightlight tonight and see if it helps at all. I was tempted to just take him to the living room and turn on the TV but I know that will just make things worse. I just cant physically rock him for hours on end and function without sleep.

It sounds like teething to me. That's how Hallie is. Her sleeping gets messed up, she's super clingy and she's cranky. I hope things get better for you!!

Sounds like teething more than separation anxiety to me. Is he otherwise healthy, like no runny nose/cough? I only ask because Holden acts like that only at night when he has ear infections

He had a cold a few weeks ago, but has been fine for a while. No cough or runny nose. I do see him touch his ears a lot lately, but he doesn't show any other signs of having an ear infection. Last time I took him to the Dr. because of ear touching there was nothing wrong.

I just gave him tylenol so we'll see how the rest of the night goes.

I am also thinking teething. Sophia has been doing some similar night time wakings. I can usually get her to sleep by nursing her back to sleep. But there have been nights when I have to give some Tylenol and sit w/ her and rock her for a while b/c she cries inconsolably.
