Ethan refuses to hold his own bottle. He always has. If you give it to him, he throws a holy moly temper tantrum, throws it down, throws himself down, and throws it at you. If you hold it, he's fine. It's sort of pathetic lol. Same with a sippy although he won't drink out of those even if I hold them for him.

Is he just spoiled? I'm not in a big hurry to have him holding his own bottle but I just know that most babies were holding their bottles by 6 months and he REFUSES or acts like he doesn't know how. Anyone else's LO do this?

I don't remember when Vincent started holding his bottle - it was kind of late, though. And he never really figured out that he had to hold it up, so the last couple months when he actually would hold it I would just lay him on the floor and give it to him to hold. So he never could get the hang of a spout sippy cup either. We started with a straw cup and he took to that well enough since he didn't have to tip the cup up. Have you tried a straw cup?

Arie doesn't hold her bottle either. I always joke that she is a princess but I think its probably partly (or all) my fault. I don't really LET her hold it because she has been on a fast flow nipple since 6 months, if she tips it in any direction, milk comes flowing out. I'm bad at letting her make a mess for the sake of learning, so I just give her the bottle. At this point, she only gets a bottle a few times a day (before her nap and bedtime, and if she wakes up in the middle of the night) so its not a big deal. During the day she will drink water from a rubbermaid juice box. Again, I don't let her drink milk from it because it'll drip everywhere. Not sure if that girl will ever learn to do anything since I'm so mess-a-phobic (even though my house is a horrible mess, ugh).

I'm so bad that I still feed her "messy" food instead of just taking her shirt off and letting her go crazy like everyone else does.

At any rate, regarding the bottle, at this point I actually like giving it to her, I like rocking and feeding her. I'm going to try to get her off the bottle by 18 months but for now I am enjoying it.
