Now that the babies are 1 is it okay to let them try honey? Not that I want him to have much unnecessary sugar, but I was just wondering if it's technically safe now. I've actually been using agave nectar more instead of honey or syrup lately but haven't let him try that on anything just yet. Maybe when he gets better at eating those veggies...

I think it's a personal preference thing at this point. My ped. told us at Aaron's 12 month check-up that the only thing she still recommends avoiding at this point is peanuts.

I agree its a personal choice. I believe 12 months is the time for it to be ok according to some pediatrician's.

I choose to not give honey, peanut butter, hot dogs, or grapes no matter what. Im sure there are some more but it's to early to think. I wont give those until 2 or later.

Yes it is technically safe at this point. There is very little risk for botulism to affect a one year old.

I just wouldn't do it at night before bed the first time. I've given it to mine at 1 to help with coughs.

It was suggested to me by peds past and present to wait till 2. But I agree about it being a personal preference.

I agree that it is personal preference...We have already given everything except shellfish and I feel better having it out of the way.

Definetely a personal preference...I'm not going to give Aidyen any just because it the risk still scares me...I was told it was ok to give peanut butter now, but I won't either because of the risk of an allergic reaction. Plus its too thick choking scares me

Luca has honey occasionally. I don't give it to him per se but he has stolen toast off my plate before. Honey doesn't concern me at all at this point apart from that it's basically sugar.
