First, thank you MARISA, for the awesome idea!
Second, I am not crafty or talented in any way, and I still managed to pull this off, so that means anybody can do it.
I made this blankie this afternoon after reading Marisa's post about making one for Bishop. It is made with two of Nathan's receiving blankets, my favorites from when he was born. I LOVE it!
I am going to buy some fabric and make one for each of the kids for Christmas.
here's a pic of the one I made today:

You did a great job! I love making them for the boys, I'm sure over the years they will accumulate a lot. Especially since we both live in cold winter areas they come in handy!

yeah, I am already thinking that each kid is going to have more than one LOL! I can make one for every holiday using patterns that correspond with the holiday, like pumpkins for halloween and eggs for easter, etc.
I was hoping to make one for rebecca too before our roadtrip to quebec, but we leave early saturday morning. maybe i will go thursday night or friday afternoon and get the fabric, cut it, and then just tie it on the drive up to pass the time.
and, I could always make some for gifts too!

for sure, it can be any size. I just happened to have two receiving blankets on hand and wanted to try it out.

Looks great. I don't quiet understand how you made the blanket. You tied 2 blankets together? How? Is there sewing involved? (I think step by step instructions are needed for me)

Very cute. I plan on making one for this baby. I made one years ago for my cousin but the dog took claim to it when she was a puppy..lol
I am sure I will make one for Rosie too just need to find the right material for her.

Thank you for the link. It does look easy. I might meander to the fabric store and see if they have any interesting fabrics and try it. You girls have such great ideas.

Very cute! I hadn't thought about doing those with receiving blankets! I usually use fleece, but it's too hot here most of the time for fleece blankets. I think I might try that with some of Ellie's old blankets!

Very cute! I have done it with fleece, too, but hadn't thought about receiving blankets. I might just have to try it!
