How do you feel about this vaccine? Have your LO's had it yet?

Our Pedi. wants to give this vaccine at my LO's 12 month appt. I am really concerned about it and might wait until he is a little older. This is the vaccine that has been controversial and linked to autism. I know the media lately is saying that they have proven the autism claims wrong but I am still not convinced. I have heard many stories and am really nervous about this.

While I dont know if i believe it causes Autism, Im not a fan of the nasty reaction that seems to be more common when given to babies/toddlers.

Since MMR is a required vaccine to attend school we will delay until closer to age 6, when they would start grade 1 (I plan on Homeschooling until then)

My first 2 kids did get the vaccine at 12 months, however I have not given it to Isabelle yet and will also wait to give any vaccines to Miranda until she's at least 3 years old. There really is no rush in my eyes and if it wasn't a requierment for school, I wouldn't do it at all.

For the autism risk I don't really feel one way or another.
But more the reactions I have heard so I am still doing a bit of research to see if we will delay or not and the risk for delaying.

I'm backed up on vaccines already that he won't get it at his 12mo appt. I honestly don't know when we'll do it. My son Dane is backed up on their schedule also. I'm in no rush and their Dr doesn't push it. I'll do more reading up before I make a final choice but I have awhile before we do anything.

Hmmmm, good question. We have our 1 year appt on Monday and I think we are doing the MMR. Just because we are planning to travel overseas I think I want her to have the vaccines. I hope there is no link to autism. That would be awful if I am consenting to a vaccine that causes autism.

Julia has had 3 sets of shots ever, she is way behind.
But i did get my DD the MMR, DS we decided to wait on it, guess who is Autistic? DS is the one with high functioning autism. He did end up getting the shot in May i think it was so he was 3.5. He got the shot because someone in his school had the mumps or measels i forget. It hit close to home and we decided to do it.
His body doesnt react well to shots at all to begin with, so we try and do them very spaced out and if he wont be in school.
With Julia we will get to it when we do, i did hear that in 2012 the separated MMR vaccine will be available so there is a good chance we will wait for that.
That study was retracted.

DD was vaccinated on time, every time. she is very healthy and bright. I didn't know about the autism thing when she was a baby.

to be honest even though it was retracted, I am still nervous about it.

he will get the vaccine when I feel comfortable with it.

Honestly, the bottom line (whether the study was debunked or not) is that you need to do what you feel is best for you and your child.

That being said, Paige will not be getting it right now.

I am waiting just a little big longer on the MMR. Not sure if I will wait until 18 months or get it sooner. I am a tiny bit nervous about the autism connection even though the study was debunked, but I am also nervous about her getting measles, mumps, or rubella.

I vax on schedule. My oldest didn't have any issues with the MMR vaccine. I don't believe that there is any link to autism, I think it has more to do with the usual timing of that vaccine and when autism symptoms become more apparent in children.

I get Ellie vaccinated according to the schedule for a number of reasons. She goes to daycare with schoolage children and I teach and I know not all of those kids we're around are probably vaccinated. I just feel it's safer all around if she is vaccinated. Herd immunity and all That said, you have to do what works for your family.

we did everything on time up until now. I am now delaying vaccinations just because Suzannahs little system is all screwed up. We will vaccinate later on down the road.

I am not sure yet. He doesn't have insurance right now (terrible, I know, but we just moved to another state and are waiting for our state aid to come through, we can't afford private insurance and my employer doesn't offer it) so we are looking at a bit of a wait for his 12 month well-baby. I might delay it. We need to read up on it first.

I'm not overly concerned w/any links to autism, whether studies are debunked or not. I tend to agree that I think the assumed link is more likely due to the timing of vaccinations and the onset of autism. Of course, I also think everyone should research and do what they feel is best for their child. - being proactive is never a bad thing, IMO.

We'll vax on schedule, as I have with all my children.

We vaccinate on schedule so Alivia will be getting hers at her 1 year appointment next week. My other two kids have had it and they're fine.

We can't delay vaccines in my area. There are no doctors here who will accept you if you want to delay. Apparently, some years ago a bunch of kids got seriously ill when they chose not to vaccinate and sued like all the docs (even though they had signed a release). Now, no doctor in the area will take you if you delay. And so, I don't have much choice in the matter unfortunately.
