If you are what carrier are you using? Are you still doing the front carry, the back carry, or the hip carry?

I have the Ergo and if anyone can give me any advice on how to get C into the back carry without someone to assist me I'd be forever greatful.

I wish, I loved wearing Kaileigh. I would love to have an Ergo, but we just never had the extra money to buy one. She loved the Moby until she was about 6 months then we used the regular one that had the front carry only. She began to hate being on the front so we stopped. I'm sure to this day she would love the back but I never bought one.

Oh I miss snuggling her in the Moby so much

Ergo, always front carry. I'm too chicken to try the back carry. I'm sure if I did figure it out, Juliana would just fuss because she'd think I was ignoring her.

Watch BabySteals like a hawk, like 2 weeks ago they had the organic Ergo that's normally like $120 or $130 down to $69!

C loves the back carry but I only feel safe putting him in it when I have someone to hold him in place. I tried the hip carry and that was OK but I didn't like the way the strap dug into my neck.

I guess I'll continue to front carry.

I have a K'Tan I might have to bring back out and get more comfortable using.

Still use the Baby K'tan (front or hip carry) all the time and rarely I use my Ergo. I tried him in the back carry the other day but he didn't seem to like it much. A friend showed me how to do it by myself and I tried but I still needed DH to hand me the straps. If you have a bed that's high up you can kind of use that for assistance when getting them in or out of the back carry. That's how I took him out by myself but that was still a little tricky.

I still use our tie carrier front hold only. I tried the back carry but aren't too sure about it yet. I put him in the mint a few months ago and he wouldn't stay for more than 10 min . I really want to get a ergo or baby hawk but now that he's walking he just wants to be free. I will put him in the tie carrier to nurse him if we are out and around a bunch of new surroundings so he doesn't get too distracted

I only occasionally use the Ergo now, she prefers walking first and foremost, then a shopping cart, then the ergo, then the stroller....which is unfortunately because I prefer the stroller (or shopping cart of course).

Ergo exclusively back carry...except on airplanes.

Here's what I do: put ergo on around waist. Put left arm through strap. Put E on right hip. Next thread E's left leg through Ergo. So now he is on my right hip but his leg is alongside my back in ergo. Now here is the key I figured out. I reach my left hand behind me and grab his left hand. You have to make sure when you reach behind that you thread your own arm through the ergo straps where the baby's arm will eventually be. Once I securely have his upper arm, I pull with my left arm behind my back and push from the side with my right arm. I kinda keep my left arm on him while I grab the right strap and put on and clip. It maybe takes me 20 secs. I actually find I do better without anyone's help. When someone helps we all end getting tangled.

Let me know if there aren't any videos out there...I bet I could do one.

I do! I use our Ergo every time I go shopping so that I can put Bella in the cart seat. I use it other times too. I've never tried the back carry. Maybe I'll get brave tomorrow and try it at swimming lessons.

The back carry is soooo freeing! It leaves both of your arms all the way free so I can pick up and lift other things better.

Also, I think Emmett kinda likes it better. And he can't reach up and slap me in the face or pick my nose. (Although he does play with my pony tail now.)

So, I finally am able to get Caleb into the back carry by myself. I ended up just putting him on my back like a piggy back ride and bringing the straps up and around. The only problem is that he HATES the back carry. I think he like being able to see my face. So I guess it's still the front carry for us. Although I had my 33lb 3 year old in the Ergo on my back and she loved it. LOL

I tried the hip carry with the K'Tan and that seems to be Caleb's favorite.
