I know a lot of us are choosing to ERF. As most know the law says 1 year and 20 pounds butstudies show a minimum of 2 years if safer.
This is not to judge anyone on their choice. If you have turned your child FF, that is clearly your right as a parent, and I do not want any type of put downs towards each other. Please be respectful.
Are you ERF? What is your goal?
Show a picture of your little one in his/her car seat
If you are currently FF show a pic of them too.

I'll have to remember to take a pic today. She is ERF and we are planning on doing it until she outgrows RF for her carseat (we are estimating 3 yo).

I'm at work so I can't upload a picture right now, but she is ERF and will be doing that until she outgrows it. I am one of the only mommy's in my circle that is still doing this (about 3 ladies same age babies). They think Im crazy! Which i could care less, but still. My MIL and SIL thinks its crazy and tell me all the time that London would be much happier. Guys London is a car baby (Caden is too) she just sits back and rides (while sucking her fingers...haha so cute) so how much happier can she get!!! HAHAHA

Heehee, cute!!!!
I keep hearing that usually kids outgrow RF by height (trunk size, not leg) before weight, but not sure of the accuracy of that statement.

Vincent is still RF too. I will RF until he outgrows the limit on his seat. Probably at least until 3, I'm assuming.

Noah is still rf and will until he reaches the weight limit, I'm thinking it'll be by the time his is 2 if not shortly after. He loves sitting that way too because then he can see the older kids behind him.

Oh I meant to post about this! When I went to the pedi last week I got a handout saying "If your child is over 12 months old and at least 20 pounds, it's time to turn him to forward facing"!!! W T F? Then they had a sign up that showed the different ages/weights and categories for the seats and it said again that 1 year and 20+ lbs belongs forward facing and then something about how Oregon law says the child must be in the proper category. I know it is NOT the law here to change to FF at 1 and 20 lb but this sign was so misleading! I meant to talk to her about it but we got so distracted with shots, etc that I forgot!

We're RFing! I'll turn her around when she outgrows her Radian XTSL RFing (45lbs) I can't even imagine how long away that will be, lol. Not to mention she'll be (or could be) in a 5-point harness until 80 lbs and 53 inches! LOL---I say "could" because I think that car seat will expire before she gets that big!

Still rear facing. It wont be for much longer Once she hits 12kg (26lb) we have to move her to forward.

Ella is still RF. She has to be as she's not even 20lbs yet...19lbs10oz at yesterday's appt....my little peanut! To be honest, I actually still have her in her infant carrier (weight limit is 22lbs). We recently had to buy a new seat for DS b/c his old one was no longer staying tight... The straps would loosen just from his squirming around. And the back up one in DH's car (which the kids are almost never in) is like 8 years old. I can't put my tiny baby in that. As far as ERF goes, we'll see. With DS I had full intentions of doing ERF, but by 10 months he had gotten so fussy. Seriously, there were times I considered just driving into a tree b/c I couldn't take it anymore. The ride to the sitter can be anywhere from 25-40 minutes depending on traffic & that is a long time to deal w/ a screaming child. And I figured that if I'm handing him toys or trying to entertain him, my inattentive driving was going to put us in accident sooner or later. In the end I turned him at 11 months (he was 22lbs at that point.) It may sound like a big excuse, but I really did worry about mine & his safety - and my sanity. Ella seems to be pretty content RF, I think b/c she can look at Dom. So I will keep her RF as long as she's happy & doesn't outgrow any weight limits.
On another note, a PP mentioned the misleading info from their dr's office. When the nurse weighed Ella yesterday she said in a cutesy voice to her, "Uh-oh, you have to put on a few more ounces so mommy can turn you around." I didn't like that all & planned on saying so to the dr, but completely forgot. We also get a pamphlet at each appt. & the one for 1 year said, on the very back & bottom: " In the car, always put child in a car seat in the back seat. If your child weighs less than 20 lbs he or she should still face backwar. In fact, it's safest to face backward until age 2." I thought good for them for putting that in there, but it was kind of buried and really doesn't stress the importance of how safe ERF is. And one more thing, dr's, in general, really need to stress this more at their appts. My SIL, who has 3 children, had never even heard a thing about ERF (she doesn't look everything up online or subscribe to parent mag like me!) She actually thought the law was that you HAD to turn your child at 1!! She also had never heard anything about car seats having expirations. And she's a pretty well-educated person.

If it weren't for JM, I probably would have interpreted the doctor's sign that way and turned Juliana to FF.
