If you are a SAHM do you ever wish you was a working mom?

I am a SAHM and I love being able to stay home with my kids. I do sometimes wish that I could go back to school and get my doula or RN training though

I am a working mommy and I have my days. I love my job, but I would really enjoy being home at least part-time with my kiddos. Even working from home would be ideal. I just feel like by being a working mommy (who works outside the home) I miss out on my children's milestones. I am really big on Firsts! So that sucks......

I work a 10 hour shift on Saturdays and I LOVE it!!! Ideally I would do 2 days a week but the cost of having 1 day of paid care with the commute and everything, it doesn't really make sense for me to work another day right now.
But I love that I at least work one day, I feel like I get the best of both worlds, I'm a professional but also a SAHM.

I wish I could afford to stay at home and not have to work, but unfortunately I have to work.
This can turn into a huge debate. Does anyone ever visit celebrity baby blog? (now owned by People ...under babies section). OMG - whenever it turns to SAHM vs working it gets so catty it's unbelievable! You should read the comments some people put...

^^ ahh, I hope this doesnt cause a debate. It's was just to ask if one wishes they were the other.
For me, I LOVE being a SAHM, but I do sometimes wish I was a working mom just to be able to know I help support my family, and make a few bucks of spending money. No way I could though, daycare is to expensive, and I would have to make enough to pay daycare for two kids AND have money brought home. Thats why I stopped working. We wanted another and even though we was paying daycare and I was seriously only banking $90 a week after daycare. It was ridiculous and not worth it.

I'm a SAHM and couldn't be happier. There's no way I could have gone back to work after Owen was born...even though some days he makes me crazy, I'd be crazier without him!
ETA: I wanted to add that I think working mamas are amazing! I think it's awesome that you're able to have the best of both worlds. If my job had been more of a financial benefit to our lives, I'd have certainly gone back, but much like Shannon, after paying for day care, I wouldn't have brought home enough to really contribute.

I love being a SAHM, I have no desire to work right now (and I am thankful that we are in a position where I can stay-at-home) so to answer the question, no, I have never wished that

I work from home and I hope I can keep working from home forever! Sometimes I wish I could work 1/2 or 3/4 time but in my job it's not an option.

If you are a working mom do you wish you could be a SAHM?
YES. And I feel guilty, a lot. But I have to work to make us money and honestly I don't know how good I'd be as a SAHM. I would like to think I'd be good at it, but honestly I'm probably better as a banker lol!

Sometimes it can be shocking how little is left after taxes, commuting expenses, wardrobe expenses, more expensive meals from eating out, and childcare.
I'm not sure how much longer I can last working from home at my current job. I did an analysis to compare getting a local job here for about the same salary or working from home doing online teaching for about $40K per year less than the local job. Between childcare savings, reduced taxes, and all of those other expenses I would only be netting about $5K more per year with the local job with the high salary even though the gross salary difference would be about $40K. Totally NOT worth it.
I have heard stories about women being told by their accountants that they were operating at a loss by working and they had no idea.

I just recently quit. I really miss being at work for sure. But I also love being with my kiddos. I miss my "Adult" time. I don't really get any of that when I'm home with the kids all day. HOWEVER, I'm finishing nursing school by the end of the year and then I hope to get a job in a hospital. So, I won't be a full time SAHM for long. I think I value my time with my kids more when I am not with them constantly.
I think you guys who are full time SAHMs are amazing. I just don't think it is for me.

I've been a SAHM for the last 13 months and it's about time I get back to work. I don't think I'm a very good SAHM. I'm looking forward to going back into the world, wearing my nice clothes and interacting with other adults. Besides DH and I make almost the same, so when I'm not working our income is cut in half. It's hard to adjust to that once you are used to it. It would be hard to go back when our little ones were only weeks or months old. But for both children, I've been off for more than 12 months. My work schedule isn't too bad either. I work 8-2:30 and I can do additional work at home after the kids go to bed.

I am a SAHM, however I just recently picked up a night time job waitressing to 1) get out of the house and 2) make leisure money since we live pay check to pay check right now.

Ditto! Yet I don't like to be far away from Juliana. Even with the most reliable nanny I worry about her and feel guilty about being away more than a few hours. That's why WFH works out perfectly for me.

No. I wouldn't even consider going to work right now. It would cost way too much for daycare and I wouldn't feel comfortable with that anyways. Maybe I'll work part time or something once all the kids are in school full time, but I don't know....I'd have to have a pretty sweet job because I am selfish about my weekends with Wes and the kids.

My hubby and I make nearly the same and if I stopped working it would be hard to adjust to.

Why thank you
I've been a full-time SAHM for almost 4 years now. I do love it but somedays I wish I had a job to go to. I gave up my teaching career and I often feel bad that we are paying on a student loan for a Masters degree that I have never used. At the same time, since my DH travels so much, I just can't see me being able to work. Plus, the thought of having a boss after so many years of not having one makes me cringe. Although I guess I do have two little bosses. LOL When my kids are all in school full time I'll go back and get my Doctorate and then have my career....if I'm not 80!
