Since tomorrow is Friday (AKA yard sale day) I have to ask... Who here is crazy about yard sales? How do you find about about yard sales by you (signs, paper, word of mouth)? What is the best deal you have ever gotten at a yard sale?

I LOVE yard sales. Every Friday that I am able to go I go. I check the local paper and craigs list to find ones that sound good. I thn look up the addresses and map out a plan of action. I have 5 on my list for tomorrow. The best deals I've gotten so far is a brand new Lands End Winter Coat for Grace, I paid $4! Last year I got a Little Tikes Victorian Toy Bench for $2. My Friend and I went in half and half on a bouncy house at a yard sale a few months back.. got it for $60! But the best deal ever was had by my friend last year. She scored a Peg Perego Gator with the battery, in like new condition for $50!! I get such a high off of deals like that.

I used to but I havent been in a while. I look at the newspaper and a member of a local garage sale group on facebook.

BTW-great score on the gator. We bought Kaitlyn one back in March? April? Anyways..it's was close to $350 brand new so thats nuts! I'd love to have spent $5o on it.

Here she is the day we put it together.

I love yard sales!! I usually just check craigslist or when I'm out driving I'll just go to the ones that are around. I've gotten quite a few good deals at yard sales, but I've gotten better deals at thrift stores. I went to a yard sale recently and got some Melissa and Doug sound puzzles for 0.50 a piece!

Go to a lot of them...LOL. and don't rule out a sale because of the location. Some of my best deals came from " the hood". I've noticed that some people around here have multiple yard sales a summer so I go back to the good ones and avoid the bad ones. Also, don't be afraid to haggle but be fair. Get there early and look for the Thursday sales...those tend to be the best.

ETA....don't buy things you don't need. I always have a list in mind of items I want. Know what the item is worth so you don't get ripped off. If the batteries are dead don't buy it....getting home and learning a toy is broken is upsetting to the kids and a waste of your time. And last, if it looks like the yard sale sat out overnight avoid it.

Heather you are a pro! Man I wish I could go with you one time! You got it down! Thanks girl I will incorporate all your tips and let you know how it goes... If you get a FB message and I'm cussing you out due to no luck ... Don't get mad! You hear me! Lmao!

Also if I get shot because I'm shopping in the hood you're to blame! LOL

I LOVE yard sales. My best buy was over $200 worth of mostly new w/tags clothes for my daughter for $15. I'm determined to buy the bulk of my clothes and things we need from yard sales rather than from the store. Most are brand new or like new and 1/8th of the price!

Yeah, me too! I hardly ever find anything good. Usually just pull up and see lots of ratty old clothes and VERY used toys. That being said, when I go with my husband, we usually find really good things. He must have all the good luck. At one yard sale, we even bought our bed. It's really really nice....we never would have paid what it was worth new!

Locally we have moms that get together and run mom-to-mom sales. they sell all their kids stuff, and it's GREAT. It's nice to be on the hunt for kids stuff and not to have to hit a ton of places to get a variation of sellers/stuff. BEAUTIFUL clothes!

I love to go but usually only go out on Saturdays because most people around here only have them on Saturday. Anyways about a month ago I got a First Steps Jogging stroller for $1. I've gotten a ton of clothes before for like .25 a piece. I've found some good kid toys for just a few bucks.

I use a garage sale app on dh's phone to find them around here.

Shantel you're a riot!!! The better sales are the ones advertised in the paper or on Craigslist. The more effort the people put into advertising the better.

Thanks to this, I am going tomorrow. A subdivision down the road from me is having their annual one tomorrow so I'm going to put Kaileigh in the stroller and walk and see what I can find.

I rarely go but my neighborhood has an annual one and I have figured out where there are two houses with girls about 2 years older than Juliana that do the sale every year. Last year I scored some really amazing deal on barely worn clothes with brands like Baby Gap and I plan to hit up those two houses again next April.

I love garage sales, and wish I had more time to go on a regular basis....right now I look for signs in the neighborhood to go to (like the one across the street from us today....total score on clothes) and watch Craigslist

best deal....not really sure...I got a winter coat/snowpant set for Wyatt for $4 and rock and roll elmo for $2 the amount that wyatt loves elmo made that toy so worth the $2 spent

I went today. Didnt get much at all.

Found a pair of pj's size 12 month for $2, found a pair of childrens place size 3 shoes for $2 which were very nice and a really nice fall jacket for $4 size 12-18 month.

That was it Not much but thats ok. I didnt have anything in mind but thats what I got. No one had any clothes for Kaitlyn or toys for her age, so I promised her a treat after we were done to make up for it.
