Have you introduced tablewear? forks, spoons, plates, more open cups??

Yep we give her silverware every time she eats. She sometimes uses them. She is getting really good at drinking out of an open cup too! We always put her food on a plate and she does well with it. She has stopped tipping it over and throwing it off high chair.

She gets a kids plate, a fork and spoon and a sippy cup but the cup I give her dinner is a spout cup so it does spill and flow out heavier then a normal sippy. She uses a spoon pretty good but doesnt really do the fork to well yet.

We give him a plate and we're working on using a spoon (but he's not very good at it yet). I haven't even tried to introduce the fork yet.

we do covered cups with a straw right now...everything else we have tried once or twice and he just makes a mess with it.....or throws it overboard....
Once I have been home with him a little bit (couple weeks maybe) we will try again to introduce them i think

We do a plate sometimes. Mostly though, he eats out of a bowl with a spoon. I'm still helping him load the spoon but he does pretty great at getting the full spoon to his mouth. I've not tried an open cup except every once in a while when he drinks from mine.

Eva has a plate/bowl, sippy cup and a fork or spoon. She tries to use the fork and spoon but not quite there. We'll load them up for her and she'll use them.

She gets a bowl or plate and a sippy cup. She's now getting a fork and spoon, and is starting to do really well with them too. BUT she's still liking the efficiency of her fingers instead. So we're still struggling with making them the implement of choice. Once she gets bored at the table, the plate still goes south. We'll get there. Eventually. I figure once the fork and spoon are mastered, that's when I'll introduce more free flowing cups.

We've introduced forks and spoons, but she mostly just plays with them or throws them on the floor. We do a lot of pretend play with them as well.

How are they doing? If not, when will you introduce it? Caleb just looks at the utensils and then throws them on the floor. LOL

I give her silverware all the time, she tries, gives up and just holds it in one hand and uses the other hand to feed herself lol

She throws utensils on the ground. I still think about the one post I read by a BTDT mommy on the May boards who has I think 3 year old twins...she was saying the girls mastered forks and spoons before their second year, but now at 3they will use their spoons to slather on applesauce onto their hands and lick it off. LOL I guess the point being kids will be kids!

We use the Skiphop "Mate" plate/holder thing, it comes with a fork and spoon and like Makenna, Sophie will hold one in one hand and eat with the free hand!
We use sippies, cups with straws or straw sippies. She also "drinks" the pouch baby food on her own.

I usually put the spoon in Hunter's hand, help him scoop up the food, and direct it to his mouth. After doing that a few times he usually makes a really valiant attempt at it. He is no where near using cutlery though. He will drink from an open cup assisted, but even my 2.5yr old sometimes tips it too fast and spills, so I have no expectation for Hunter to be able to use one any time soon.

I give him a spoon and he'll just play with it. I've tried plates but he just throws them and I got tired of cleaning it up! He uses straw sippies because like the plates he will just throw the cup when he is done. I even got the suction plates and the little stinker still gets them off somehow!

And not to hijack but my family is right on my wick about making sure she learns how to use utensils too...like I'm going to let her eat with her hands forever and like I condone heathenism or something equally as abhorrent. I just look at them blankly and carry on. I must have been some perfect child I'll tell ya. BTW I highly suspect this isn't the case. With my family, they would show an equal amount of disdain if they thought I wasn't letting her play with her food. And I can assure you that if she was using utensils at this point, this would be the next foregone conclusion. There's no right answer.
