Okay, we are getting ready to spend about 24 hours in the car (spread out over 3 days) with Claire. Anyone done a trip like that with a one-year old? Any advice, tips, or tricks to help make it go smoothly? She's generally a good traveler, but we haven't done a trip like this since I was 28 weeks pregnant

When we travel with Brendan I bring a whole bag of toys, but only let him have a couple at a time.. that way every day he has something new to play with- or if he is having a meltdown there is something new to distract him. It's worked well so far .

I hope it goes smoothly for you. Sophia got so bored in the carseat that she started to scream from the top of her lung. I sat next to her and entertained her a while w/ songs. Ran out of songs to sing however plus I got tired from singing. Maybe a CD w/ some cute kids songs that you can all sing along w/ could help?

I have the VTech Laptop Amazon.com: Vtech - Baby's Learning Laptop: Toys & Games that Sophia gets exclusively in the car now. It's not that expensive and it does provide an hour of entertainment or so. Snacks and drinks are a good distraction also but I am sure you have that covered.

If you have a tablet maybe you can even show a cartoon? I suggest sitting next to her so you don't have to reach behind.

we just did a trip in the car this past week. it took us 14 hours to get there and 11 to get back. we stopped a LOT more on the way there than the way home, which is why it took so much longer the first time. we brought some new little toys he hadn't played with before and gave him one at a time until he grew bored of it, and some bubbles. to distract him we'd blow bubbles at him haha. we also left in the middle of the night so he'd sleep the first few hours.
