So Hunter has been doing really well with solids. His biggest issue is that he likes to chew something to death, and then if it doesn't melt away, or stays in a crumble (ie:chicken) he'll spit it out.
Have you found special ways to serve meats so that they'll eat it? He loves pancakes, grilled cheese, eggs, and other soft/chewy foods, but I can't get him to eat any meats without spitting it out after a chewing marathon. It isn't overcooked either.

I would like to know also Aidyen never really eats meat. Very rarely he will eat a bite of chicken...and he will eat hamburger if it's chopped small and hidden in pasta with some kind of sauce. He will also not spit out hamburger if I give it to him in a bun with cheese!

huh...I kinda wish Maggie would chew her food a little longer. I find that most of the meats I give her are getting swallowed whole. What I do is make sure that the meat is about as chopped up as you can get. So by the time it gets to her plate, it's almost minced. I spend a lot of time with my big ol knife and my chopping board for her meals still. Then disguise it with things like mashed potatoes or a veggie puree.
that's about the only thing I could think of to do. Or until he has a few more teeth, you could stick with the pureed meats or keep him on proteins that aren't meat. ie. lentils, quinoa, eggs. for a long time, I mixed the pureed meats in with the other veggies and stuff to keep her meals well rounded. It looked gross, and I wouldn't eat it, but it did the trick.

Kaileigh doesnt eat meat. She doesnt have teeth to chew it. Her pedi told me that was fine as long as she's getting protein from dairy, veggies, and sources like beans since we dont do nuts yet.
I'll give her meat when she gets teeth.

No meat here....She has about 7 teeth and she is getting two of her molars in. She gets her nutrients from other things. I think she really needs her molars to be able to effectively chew up the meat, but Im also a paranoid momma when it comes to choking! LMAO

I have no idea what to tell you. Eli is kind of obsessed with meat. He will pick any meat off his tray before he starts on anything else. Because of that, I have to give him veges first or he won't touch them. I almost wish he was more like Bella in that she's always LOVED fruits and veges and eats meat sparingly. Tyrael is more like Eli. The girl loves her meat.

it's funny b/c I don't feel like I feed her too much meat. Chicken nuggets (I found egg free ones!), turkey slices and ground beef (in lasagna or something like that) is pretty much all I've fed her. She gets a ton of meat at daycare though! I'm surprised at the stuff they feed her -- seriously. I picked her up one day and she had roast pork, mixed veggies and rice for lunch. I was like "what?!" - I probably would have fed her mac n cheese She's getting more and more teeth now so I've started to lighten up on the meat (it's now the allergies I'm afraid of!).

Aaron loves meat and shoves way too much of it in his mouth at once and makes me cringe. He's constantly amazing me that he doesn't choke with as much as he shoves in there.
I would suggest cutting it up really, really small and trying to hide the meat in something (i.e. mashed potatoes) kind of like Becky was saying. Good luck!

It's not the chewing thats the issue. As a matter of fact, Hunter won't take solids if they're too small. He likes the chewing part. It's getting him to swallow it that is the problem. lol. He'll chew all the flavour out of it, and spit out the hamburger crumble, or lifeless pasta. lol.
thanks for some of your ideas! He takes the purees no problem. He actually loves the turkey and sweet potato, or vegetable beef. He is doing amazingly though, I have to say. I'm not used to it b/c my DD didn't start real solids until closer to 14months. (the milk allergy you all know about). She would get goat yogurt, gluten free bread toasted with goat butter. Or I'd bake gluten free muffins (which tend to have no milk products) but they were soooo dense.
