I got some fleece fabric today to try to make a knot blanket. I put them on top of each other to get them to be even size, but when I cut - I make jagged lines and they are crooked as well. I am not very good at this. Does it matter if the 2 blankets are not exactly straight? Will you see the crooked lines in the end?
Any techniques that you can share to make it perfect?

I didn't worry about them being perfect, once it is tied you can't really tell anyway. good luck!

Oh ok. One more question: Did you wash the fabric before you tied them?

I never wash it until it's all done- and I agree with Lori on the jagged edges. Once all the knots are in, no one will ever notice.
GL with your project- post pics when you are done

mine were made from old receiving blankets, so they had been washed.

Yeah, you're going to get crooked slits one way or another. I am never perfect with it haha.
I've made a ton of these and never wash them prior always after.

Yea, I never cut things straight and mine still came out nice. That's one reason I love this blanket so much. Heidi loves her's too. (Her party was yesterday). She's been walking around with it
Def post pix when finished!

Let's see. I have never posted a pic cause I just can't figure out photobucket. :S
I finished the blanket and it's washed. Sophia loves the faces of the bugs. I think I tied the knots too tight or something cause some areas the blanket is "bunched up". Not sure if you can see it in the pic. I tried to stretch it out.

AWE that turned out really cute. I love that fabric. As far as the too tight...ummm I bet it will loosen up with washings and wear.. You did an awesome job with it.

That looks cute! It will loosen up, all of ours have. I am doing repairs on the boys blankets a few times every few weeks. Especially my son Dane's because can't live without his blanket.

What kind of repairs do you do? Do the knots open?
DH was so impressed w/ the blanket he wants me to make him one and he suggested I should not tell anybody that I made the blanket and make presents for our friends that have babies.
Well, I did tell him how much I paid for it ($23 for the fleece and only b/c I had a coupon) and he thinks that's too much. The print was kind of expensive $12 a yard. Is that about what you pay for yours or did I overpay?

They do come loose over time, its not hard to just re-knot it. They don't all come undone but you have those few that are sticklers.
We have made several as gifts
I paid $20 for the set. It's the first time I've ever paid for a set where they're pre-cut. I steer clear of $12 a yard but because I personally can't pay that, most of the ones I've chosen though have been 40% off and under 10. I think the most I may have paid for a yard was $10 and that was because the fabric was specifically asked for.
