clip coupons. we try to eat out only once a week, or once every 2 weeks. we try to do free things with Leah like the park, library, or splash grounds. i think that's about it for this week.

I was going to enroll kenna into mygym or gymboree the days sierra is in preschool. but instead i decided to just go around do all the free baby/toddler storytimes at the libraries! there's one monday, tuesday and wednesday at the libraries close to me (it's still so strange that there like 20 libraries within the same distance as the big one was back home :lol) so that (without factoring in gas of course) saves us the 80-100 bucks a month those darn gymbo/mygym classes cost!
however when she turns 18 months she's doing gymnastics like Cici

You guys aren't going to believe this, but I got a new credit card to save money. The card gives 5% back on all purchases the first 6 months, except travel. It gives 7% back on travel. DH and I are taking a cruise in November and we had to buy 3 sets of plane tickets. So we were going to spend around $7K on travel anyway, so now we can get 7% back. Plus - here is the exciting part: on the cruise we can change $2K per person per day to the card for casino chips. Then immediately cash in the chips without gambling, and get a straight 7% back. It's a good thing my card has a high credit limit!
DH and I also have 31 rental properties and we owe a lot of property taxes every year. We're going to pay for this year's and next year's on the card. They charge a convenient fee of 2.5% but then you get 5% back so we'll net 2.5% on all this stuff we had to pay for anyway. Same with insurance on all of those homes, only there is no convenience fee.
I did a rough estimate of how much profit we can make with this card over 6 months and I conservatively estimated $5K. That's just because we have a lot of business expenses to charge. The average person wouldn't be able to make as much, but it's a good card to get if you have a lot of travel expenses coming up.

Ha. hahaha.
No since I'm not in Oregon and I'm in Texas, I'm really not spending any money. "Grammy" doesn't give me a chance to while we're visiting....lol

Well, this isn't a good question for me this week. lol We had our last little summer outing, and went and stayed 4 nights in Houston, and went shopping, and all of that, so we've blown a lot of money this week.
I guess I did buy a bunch of cloth diapers, but that cost over $200 so we won't see the savings on that for a bit either.
Guess it's time to crack down around here...lol

We refinanced both of our houses this week at really good rates and closing costs. After they close, we will be saving close to $500 per month!!
I shopped around and found really cheap text books (lower than listed prices at the bookstore) for my class this fall.

I saved $45 on a $60 bill at Publix using coupons and paring them with sales... so I spent $15 and got $60 worth of food.
Also, my friends and I bought one syllabus, I scanned it and made a PDF of it for everyone to use, so I spent $1 on that (all of us put in $1) on what I would have had to spend $20 on.

I don't think we've eaten out since at least Saturday.
This may change tonight though. I'm a bit worn out today and ready to escape this house for a bit. I'm also guessing this is preemptive savings so I can splurge this weekend. I have a hair appt (first one since early May) on Thursday, playdate on Saturday and then Shopping and lunch with my friend downtown on Sunday! I'm guaranteed to spend something then!

Omg! That is insane! That's awesome!
I used a group on to have my lawn cut and edged. I paid $20 and it was $40 dollars at retail. It was a great deal to me because we normally pay $30 every 2 weeks to have someone cut it.
