What should we do?

Friday afternoon, DH, Juliana and I are going to South Dakota for 9 days. The first couple of days, we're staying at MIL's house but after that we'll be staying in Rapid City where we have our rental properties. DH and his dad and going to be working on the houses pretty much all day every day while we're there. I need to figure out what to do with Juliana that whole time. There is no zoo there, but they have Reptile Gardens and Bear Country, so we'll probably do that one day. We'll probably also go to the community pool and the mall one day. DH's grandma gets around with a walker, so there isn't all that much she can do, but we'll definitely try to meet up with her a few times. Other than that, the only other family we have in town is one cousin and she works until about 5 pm every day. I may try to meet up with her for dinner. We'll also do lots of walks since the weather should be nice, but that's all I can think of so far.

Any ideas? I'm going to go out of my mind. I already searched but couldn't find any mom groups, La Leche League, etc.

ummm can't think of too much..You can paint! lol...London loves to paint...We sometimes paint with pudding as well. What I normally do is strip her down to a diaper and put her on a big piece of butch paper and let her have at it... I also have given her regular paper as well or a painting sheet. Are there any parks, libraries?

I was thinking library and story time. Look online for the closest library and see if they have story time listed. I know here they have story time and play group at the library so starting next week I will be going to two story times, and a play group. Most library's have them so check that out.

Other then that, just go explore. Also look online for a local mommy group. Maybe call and say you will be in the area on vacation and would love to check them out. Then each year you go you would have that group of women to meet with.

Edit: Just seen where you said you couldnt find a mommy group. Maybe call the local visitors center and ask them if they know of any mom groups.

indoor playgyms?
maybe an arboretum or botanical gardens? are there any festivals going on at that time ( we are at the height of festival season in Ontario -- there's one every weekend!).

I see that the library has story time Saturdays at 9:30, which is 30 minutes before Juliana's nap time. On weekdays, the library doesn't even open until 2:45! They have no Gymboree, indoor playgrounds (that I could find), nothing. It's such a small town. There is an outdoor park because the last day it's open is Labor Day.
