i switched over all of my cleaners to more green friendly cleaners and i use a vinegar-water solution in a spray bottle. however...i'm kind of tired of spending double just to have a greener, child and environment friendly cleaner/laundry detergent.

has anyone made their own? did you like it? how did it do getting things clean? i am about to try the borax-washing soda-soap bar version but i wanted to ask if anyone has personally made their own laundry detergent before i tried.

I made my own a LONG time ago. Before Kaileigh was even concieved. I made my own using the borax, washing soda, and Fels Naptha. I used a 5 gallon bucket we got at rural king that came with a lid. I used it for about 3 months and felt it wasnt cleaning as good as the all we used. Plus Kaitlyn's skin is so darn sensitive she was having major eczema outbreaks.

About 2 months ago I made my own dishwasher detergent, and while it does the job I also found it to leave a dingy look to glasses, so I run an extra rinse with vinegar after it's done if I have a lot of glasses in that load.

I have also switched over to more green friendly cleaners...I've never made my own, but I probably never will just because it seems like alot of work. I do use vinegar-water solution alot though. My kiddos have sensitive skin as well so we also use ALL.

I only use vinegar/water or baking soda and water to clean (sometimes lemon juice too). I'd like to use homemade clothes detergent, but I can't use powder and haven't found a recipe for a liquid kind.

Yea the one I used was liquid, and was safe for my HE front loader too.

I say give it a try Kristen. It doesnt cost much, you get A LOT and then you can decide if it works good for you.
