A friend made a comment about my diaper changing the other day, so now I'm curious...
Do you change your LO on a schedule, or only when he/she is really wet?
How many times a day do you change them?
Do you use powder/cream on a regular basis, or only when they have a rash?
Do you use "overnight" diapers or change them in the middle of the night?

How many times a day do you change them? I change him every 2-2.5 hours regardless of how wet he is.
Do you use powder/cream on a regular basis, or only when they have a rash? I use a light coat of vaseline.
Do you use "overnight" diapers or change them in the middle of the night? I do not use overnight diapers, I will only change Tommy in the middle of the night if he wakes up and will not go back to bed or if he is really wet.
Tommy gets diaper rashes real easy, so I try to keep him as dry as possible.

Do you change your LO on a schedule, or only when he/she is really wet? only when he is poopy or really wet
How many times a day do you change them? probably between 4-6
Do you use powder/cream on a regular basis, or only when they have a rash? if I notice he is starting to look a bit red I will use cream. I only use wipes if he is poopy. if he is just wet, I just take off the wet one and put on a dry one.
Do you use "overnight" diapers or change them in the middle of the night? we use regular diapers overnight and I put a clean one on him right before he goes down and change him first thing when he wakes up.

Do you change your LO on a schedule, or only when he/she is really wet? Not on a schedule, but it ends up pretty regularly. If she is pees/poops she gets fussy.
How many times a day do you change them?Depends. Lately, she is pooing 4 times a day plus a lot of pee. I think 6-8. I know it's a lot, but she has mega poos, and if the diaper is wet from pee, the poo will leak. Groooooossss.
Do you use powder/cream on a regular basis, or only when they have a rash? No, not anymore. When she was little she was getting diaper rashes a lot. Now she hardly gets them.
Do you use "overnight" diapers or change them in the middle of the night? No.

Do you change your LO on a schedule, or only when he/she is really wet? When hes awake I change Ross every 2-3 hours or when he smells poopy
How many times a day do you change them? we probably go through 6 diapers a day
Do you use powder/cream on a regular basis, or only when they have a rash? only when his bum looks irritated or he has a rash, but hes never had diaper rash, he does get a chaffing rash on his inner thighs every so often
Do you use "overnight" diapers or change them in the middle of the night? over night diapers, but i will change him at night if he wakes up really wet

Do you change your LO on a schedule, or only when he/she is really wet? I only change him when he's wet or poopy and that's every 3 hours or so.
How many times a day do you change them? probably 4-6
Do you use powder/cream on a regular basis, or only when they have a rash? I always use a thick coat of desitin paste at night and during the day if he's red. If his butt looks good, I will just use some vaseline (or sometimes nothing). We had some circumcision issues a while back so I got into the habit of vaseline again and it keeps his skin soft and rash free.
Do you use "overnight" diapers or change them in the middle of the night? I use overnights because he was leaking in his regular diapers. But I switched diapers, so I'm going to try these overnight and see if they leak. I do not change him at night unless he happens to wake up (and I mean REALLY awake) and is obviously soaked or poopy.

She gets changed as needed. Usually really wet or if its a poopy one.
Depends but probably 6 times a day
I never change at night unless its needed. And right now I am using regular but looking into trying some overnights.
I only use a cream if I notice she is red but I still have a full tube of rash cream from when she was born. She has yet to get a rash. Usually if I notice she is getting red I put a little on and its clear within the next change.

Do you change your LO on a schedule, or only when he/she is really wet? I only change her when I see that her diaper is getting full and if she's got poop. There really is no schedule. Of course I'll do it when she wakes up, before we go out and before bed time for sure.
How many times a day do you change them? maybe 4-5 times
Do you use powder/cream on a regular basis, or only when they have a rash? I use cream at least once a day, usually after she poops. And tons of it if she does have a rash.
Do you use "overnight" diapers or change them in the middle of the night? Miranda doesn't pee at night. She sleeps the night through and most of the time she's dry when she wakes up.

Do you change your LO on a schedule, or only when he/she is really wet? Whenever she is wet or poopy
How many times a day do you change them? Seems to usually be about 8 when she's in cloth. Sometimes less if she's in a disposable cause it takes me longer to notice.
Do you use powder/cream on a regular basis, or only when they have a rash? Only when she's getting red, usually when she's in disposables
Do you use "overnight" diapers or change them in the middle of the night? I use a cloth diaper with more absorbency and a staydry liner at night and don't change her unless she poops (rarely) or wakes up wet.

Do you change your LO on a schedule, or only when he/she is really wet? When he is really wet or poopy. And I always put a new diaper on him right before bed, even if he isn't really very wet.
How many times a day do you change them? Not sure, but about every 2-3 hours I guess.
Do you use powder/cream on a regular basis, or only when they have a rash? I try and put a "barrier" on him every night (aquaphor) and use real cream (desitin) when he has a rash/redness.
Do you use "overnight" diapers or change them in the middle of the night? He wears Pampers Baby Dry all the time, and they happen to be excellent night time diapers. I do not change him in the middle of the night.

Do you change your LO on a schedule, or only when he/she is really wet? When he needs a change, which tends to follow it's own schedule (on average every 2-3 hours)
How many times a day do you change them? approx 5 to 6
Do you use powder/cream on a regular basis, or only when they have a rash? He's had super sensitive skin since he was born so I use powder at every change (just cornstarch), and rash cream as a rash develops (every few days, even with changing him frequently).
Do you use "overnight" diapers or change them in the middle of the night? We use normal dipes at night, no changing. By morning it's pretty full of pee, but doesn't leak or anything. If he poops at night I change him immediately (but that's a rare occurance).

Do you change your LO on a schedule, or only when he/she is really wet?[/B] When hes awake I change Ross every 2-3 hours or when he smells poopy
How many times a day do you change them? I don't keep track
Do you use powder/cream on a regular basis, or only when they have a rash? only if he looks red which is very rarely
Do you use "overnight" diapers or change them in the middle of the night? I don't do either. I change him right before bed and right when he wakes up in a regular diaper.
PS I didn't know you could skip the wipes if they only peed. Won't the pee still irritate the skin?

Not usually. The best thing to do (what I've always done and what DD1's doc told me to do) is to let them air out for about a min after a pee diaper. Let them lay on the diaper but don't close it. Make faces at baby and distract until you don't feel much dampness to the skin. This may not apply to every baby though. It may have to do with the amount of ammonia in their urine as well. Bacteria is what I've been told causes the rashes and urine is water and extra nutrients the body didn't need so it lets go of. HTHs!
Here's something I just looked up:
"Effects of urine
Although wetness alone has the effect of macerating the skin, softening the stratum corneum, and greatly increasing susceptibility to friction injury, urine has an additional impact on skin integrity because of its effect on skin pH. While studies show that ammonia alone is only a mild skin irritant, when urea breaks down in the presence of fecal urease it increases pH because ammonia is released, which in turn promotes the activity of fecal enzymes such as protease and lipase. These fecal enzymes increase the skin's hydration and permeability to bile salts which act as irritants in and of themselves."
Irritant diaper dermatitis - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
So, I take that as: as long as you wipe the poop off real good then when it's just a pee diaper it won't rash if there's no fecal matter for the ammonia to exacerbate.
