Vincent is still not walking. I know he's still within the typical range for this milestone but he won't be for much longer. I feel like it's my fault - he doesn't have much room to roam here in our tiny apartment. There's not many spaces that he can play in that we are able to baby proof easily. So I wonder if that's keeping him from it - although I let him roam and explore other places whenever I can. He just doesn't want to walk at all.

Am I the only one left with a non-walking baby?

Oh, and he still hasn't figured out how to stand up on his own without pulling up on something either.

My earliest walker was Evelyn and we lived in a tiny apartment at the time. I've had a range in walkers from age 12 months to 18 months. Once they started walking/running you couldn't tell a difference at all in who walked earlier than others. Max is just now learning to pull to stand. He's been about 3-4 months behind in gross motor skills but he's continuing to gain skills. I finally had to stop comparing to other babies and realize he's on his own time frame. At first it was hard to celebrate his successes with most of the PR had celebrated for their babies months ago, but I'm so proud of him. He's continuing to progress and gross motor takes him a lot more effort but he keeps at it. Vincent will get there, he's gaining all the skills that he needs to walk. I know it's cliche, but all babies develop on their own time frame and he's doing great!

Maggie didn't figure out how to stand up without pulling either until she started walking free form. So I wouldn't look to that as a marker. She cruised for a long time too...and in my opinion that should count as walking.

Maggie was way late with the rolling/crawling/walking stuff. She didn't take her first steps til after 14 months. But when it happens, it's so fast that they go from stumbling after one or two steps to zipping by you and chasing you through the house. I promise, it'll happen soon.

Daniel JUST started walking probably a month ago (I should know that, but I totally don't... LOL). I wouldn't be too concerned. Does it seem like he is weak and CANNOT stand? Or is he just not wanting to stand?

We are still waiting here too...Kaiden is just starting to let go of things and standing for a few seconds on his own. He can't stand up on his own yet either.
I think it will happen very soon tho and then we will definitely have our hands full!

Awww Michele ((HUGS)) I ditto what everyone has said. My oldest Caden didn't walk until he was nearly 16 months. He also was slow in the gross motor area and very stubborn.

My oldest didn't walk until she was at least 14 mos...and even then it was just a couple steps. I blamed it on the fact I used to put her in one of those baby walkers. We lived with my brother & SIL at the time and they had a cement patio by the pool and I was too paranoid to let her walk out there! Also, I think she was held all day at daycare. We used to call her our lazy little lump...yes, it was a term of endearment To this day, she is extremely active and bright but she is a bit of a couch potato and stubborn...not sure if there's a correlation based on her 'tempermant' as a baby?

So, I think it's abosolutely normal that Vincent is not walking yet. He's just not feeling it...too busy doing other things to be bothered with walking. And, I'm sure the small space has something to do with it!

sounds like you got a normal child on your hands. and you can NOT blame the size of your appt or house and you can NOT blame a walker either.
Q started to walk unassisted around 10 months. we had him in a walker ALOT and our house is like 550 sq ft so smaller than most 2 bed appts. (our house is also not easy to baby proof so theres not much room to play)

Still waiting over here, too. Ella also doesn't stand up unless she's using something to help pull herself up. It's very frustrating b/c her & her brother seem to be on exact opposite ends of the gross motor skills, with my DS doing everything early and Ella being later. With DS we were in a small condo & now w/ Ella we are in a very spacious,...trust me, room to roam has nothing to do with it! Like you said right up front, our LO's are still in the range for normal...I really wouldn't worry at all, even if it is a bit frustrating to watch other kids pass yours by. These milestones - as long as they're being reached in a normal timeframe - mean nothing... For all we know, Vincent may end up being an Olympian runner some day!!
