Hmmm, this is tough. As far as unexpected joys go, Juliana looks a lot like her dad and even makes a lot of the facial expressions that DH makes. Sometimes I look at her and think "She's a mini version of him!" which I really enjoy, especially when I can see the gears cranking in her head while she tries to figure something out (especially how to take something apart).

This is not unexpected, by another of my greatest joys of motherhood has been teaching her things. It makes me so excited when she does her baby signs without being provoked. For example, the other day I gave her her teething ring and she made the sign for cold. I was like "She's getting it!". The feeling is indescribable.

My unexpected joy is when Caden and London eat really well. I know it's crazy, but I absoultely love it when I fix them a meal and all you hear is London humming...lol..she hums when she eats. It just feels my heart with soo much joy.

An unexpected joy is just Leah learning so much. We were going through one of her picture books yesterday, and she was pointing to all of the different things on the page. I was like "wow...she really is listening to me!"

Seeing her become a PERSON. its crazy!!! Its weird to think she will (God-willing) be a kid, then a teenager, then an adult.

The first time she stroked my arm, gave me a big smooch, and the first time she laid her head on my lap were kinda unexpected. I know it may sound weird, but I just never envisioned this kind of interaction with her, and they filled me with complete bliss. I cover her with kisses, but I guess I just never expected to get them in return.

The other part I can't believe I'm already realizing I will miss, is changing her diaper. On one hand I can't wait to get potty training done and over with (she's nowhere near ready btw). But then I think about it and I realize it's one less thing she's going to need from me, and I can't actually imagine not being "that" needed.
