baby fever. I'm so not physically ready for another one, but my clock is tick tick ticking away, and anytime I think to myself that I should just plan on being finished, I can't help but feel like we're not whole yet. And anytime I see a newborn, my uterus actually pulses.

I need to get my butt on a serious weight loss plan before we can even start thinking about ttc in the new year. But I'm also terrified of what this is going to do to me. I've had chronic (sometimes crippling) pain since delivering Maggie and the ppd was awful.

Am I just insane? Should I just count my blessings and be done? Are second children all that different from the first? Maggie has been easy. I don't want to be devastated by a colicky baby.

Arie was really difficult with her colic and I keep hoping the next one is super easy but at the same time, we are only planning on having 2 so I know if the next one is dificult, it will still be the LAST time I go through it, so that'll get me through.

Well, personally I've decided to just be done at one for now. At a much later date, DH and I will revisit possibly having another one but it will be MUCH later, like 4-5 years from now. Given that I'm 31, that's pushing it, but I'm willing to take the chance.

You obviously want another one, so I say go for it! And getting yourself to a healthy state is a great idea, whether it's to prepare for pregnancy or not. What a great motivator!

Re: "Are second children all that different from the first? " I sure hope so!! I want an easy one that actually sleeps! From what I've heard, they can be quite different, but you probably should be prepared for the worst. That's why DH and I are taking a big, long pause and possibly never having another child.

If you feel you are not complete yet, then I say to definately have another one.

Every child is so different. Every pg is different. I have 4, and even the twins are different. All 4 of my babies had pluses and minuses in the infancy era. The twins and Ty had colic bad , Julia did not have colic at all. I would say Julia, who is number 3 child, was my easiest baby all the way around. Nicole was by far my most challenging with all her disabilities. Its of course impossible to predict how another child will be, but just remember you can make it even if they are difficult at times.

Good luck with whatever you decide.

Thanks ladies. I'm sure some of this weight will simply drop off through the stress and stuff from moving, and whizzing to try and meet x-mas deadlines...but I think I have to plan to give it a really earnest shot by the spring. If I can drop just 50-70lbs by my birthday in April, I might have a fighting shot at it!

New regimen begins today.

I have baby fever too.

I would like a 3 year gap so I'm hoping to TTC next summer some time. We'll see though. I know I would be done at 2. I know I'm not done now at 1. I'm also getting up there in age (I'll be 36 next summer), but that doesn't concern me too much right now. So many people have babies later in age now -- I wouldn't necessarily see that as a bad thing right now.
