Last week, Juliana was sick and teething at the same time, so it was miserable. She'd wake up about every 1-1.5 hours and nurse for 15 minutes or sometimes more.

Her cold just finally went away, and last night she woke up ONE time. She slept 7 solid hours straight, nursed quickly and went back to sleep, and then another 3.5 hours. It feels so wonderful. This is despite the fact that she is still teething. The pedi pointed out at her 12 month appt. and again last week that she is working on molars. I can't see how far along they are because she won't let me look that far in her mouth. I do see one of her bottom eye teeth is about to come in, too. So 7 straight hours while working on 3 bad teeth seems amazing to me. Please cross your fingers that it sticks!

Another thing that's been kind of nice is that in the transition from one to two naps, I realized she's much easier to get to sleep at night if she's only had one nap. It used to take up to an hour of rocking and nursing, which was leading me to serious burnout. When we started doing one nap, she would go down in 10 minutes, which brought me to the obvious revelation that she just wasn't tired enough at bedtime after two naps. I'm going to do my best to stick to one nap from now on, although sometimes she just falls asleep early in the car on our way back from places and I don't have much choice.

Unfortunately there was no repeat. We were up 4 times last night, which isn't absolutely terrible considering we co-sleep but I allowed myself to get my hopes up that the night before was a trend. Hopefully it is a general positive trend.

The 4 times she was up, did she nurse to go back to sleep or did she just get up and then go back to sleep? Arie has been doing great lately, sleeping until 5, 5:30, and today 6 before needing a bottle, but I know she wakes up a few times at night, sits up, rolls around, and then goes back to sleep. Its distracting and wakes me up but its also encouraging because I know when I move her (whenever that is) she will be able to put herself back to sleep without me waking up.

Unless you know, she sees I'm not there and screams her head off. But one thing at a time!
