Does anyone else have a problem with brushing their LO's teeth? Joey fights me every time. I have tried different toothbrushes, and I have tried just a washcloth too. He used to be fine with it up until a few weeks ago. I always sing a tooth brushing song, and he smiles and laughs at himself in the mirror, then I try to brush his teeth and he freaks out. Any advice?

I found with Rosie she freaks out less if I let her "help" however when we are done then we have a huge problem because she doesn't want to let go..lol But for the most part I let her hold it and guide it. she will bite down as she doesn't get the concept but we get a good brushing in at least once a day.

I'm still using a finger brush with Ellie and we use a baby toothpaste that is safe to swallow. It must taste good cause she is always eager to get the brush in her mouth once she sees it.

Brendan always wants to help too, so I tend to let him do most of the "work" and then make sure I get a few good swipes in there too. He only has his 2 bottom front teeth right now, so I am not too worried about it. I hope as he gets older he'll begin to cooperate more.

I usually brush the few teeth Josh has then let him suck/chew on it for a while. He gets mad though when I put it away, and throws a fit for a minute. Our Pediatrician told us when he turned 1 to get him a toothbrush even if all he wants to do is suck and chew on it.

My older son hates when I try to brush his teeth too. He wants to do it himself. So I usually put my hand over his on the toothbrush and I "help" him brush his teeth. Then when I'm done I let him try to brush them for a minute. He also likes to spit in the sink afterwards and wipe his mouth off on a towel.

Maybe giving him a toy while you brush his teeth or letting him help or getting a good flavored toothpaste.

Liam used to like his toothbrush
now he puts his head down and wont open his mouth
we've been using the kids toothpaste which helped but now with more teeth in he likes to be difficult
weve found if one of us is trying to brush his teeth and the other pretends to brush their teeth (either me or DH) he'll be more receptive to the teeth brushing
other than that i can get maybe one or two swipes in and thats about it
