MIL gave us a swing after both DH and I told her not to. It didn't even swing on it's own. You had to manually push it. She got it second hand and it was so bulky. Heidi liked it for all of 2/3 weeks when she was 2 m/o and then she started screaming every time I set her in it. Eventually it got knocked around the kitchen so much in frustration of it being in the way that it got broken and we threw it away.

The biggest thing that made it a bad gift -to me- is that we both asked her not to give it to us in the first place bc we've never used that kind of thing and we like it that way. It was disrespectful for her to give it to us against our wishes. But she's always like that.

I can't say that we have received any bad gifts yet. My grandma works at a place like good will so she will pick up some clothes for DD and some of them are well very ugly and I would never put on Rosie let alone give to anyone else. So they just get tossed. I call my grandma and say thank you and am done with it. But then there are times where she does really good with clothes like I got a ton of dang near brand new Gymboree stuff. So it evens out..lol

we havent really gotten any "bad" gifts, we have gotten some ugly/not my style clothing that ive returned or exchanged or given away. Oh and for Ross' bday the only thing we asked that no one buy is a little blow up pool, because i hate them, and think they are gross mosquito breeding grounds and DHs grandparents bought him a little pool, it irritated me but they are in their 80's so i just let it go, we ended up returning it for a sprinkler type toy

Oh yes I remember as I was cleaning out the closet. Last year SIL got Rosie a piggy bank. Now the fact that it was a piggy bank was no big deal outside of it being uber small. But it was a build your own type. Wth is a 4 month old going to do with that?..lol

Isaac hasn't gotten anything too bad....just ugly clothes probably.
For Eva's first birthday my sister got her a time out chair and I thought that was an inappropriate 1st birthday present. We've never used it for time out but Eva likes it as a regular chair.

That is bad. I can't think of anytime where that would be appropriate.

Yeah, I have a picture of me holding the chair right after Eva opened the present and the look on my face it like "WTH!".
We're not big on time outs but my sister's kid is in trouble 24/7 (a lot of times when he shouldn't even be in trouble) so I'm sure she thought it was a great gift.
