Ok so Ethan is being a bit of a drama king as of late. If you tell him no he immediately starts to freak out. Cries, bawls, runs from you, hides under the table, sobs his eyes out, and there is NO CONSOLING HIM. He won't let you hold him (fights you and makes the tantrum worse), and he runs from you if you try to get him to come to you. He totally has COMPLETE meltdowns. Like nuclear size!!! I've never had a child at ANY age act this....tantrumy. Is this normal at his age?

Obviously I can't NOT tell him no when he's trying to break the computer, or climb on the couch and jump off like superman. He's going to have to be told no and removed from the situation. But I dread it EVERY time because he totally flips out. I have video of him tonight...where he runs around the table, cries, won't come to me, and then runs and hides under the computer desk all while I'm trying to calm him down and ALL because I told him no when he tried to turn the computer off!!! Ahhhh!

That sounds awful. All you can do is do your best to offer an alternative distraction so he hasn't something to focus on when he can't get what he wants. It sounds like he's very frustrated. Have you tried teaching him any signs?

LOL I love how you have a video of it...I'm sorry though, that sucks! Could you try maybe just ignoring it? I know, probably easier said than done!

Yep this has been London for the past week. Offering her an alternative never works for her, because she knows what you're trying to do. She will actually throw the alternative thing back at you! Not cool. I just say be consistent with it and eventually he will understand. Talk to him and explain to him what's going on. I know londons understands really well. I told her yesterday to sit down when she was standing up in the bed and she sat down.

Sounds like Stella! Mostly it happens when I won't let her go outside or take all my credit cards out of my wallet or tear up a library books. She shrieks at the top of her lungs and if I try to give her something else she will throw it at me. The only distraction that works is taking her outside (but I can't really do that if that is what she is throwing a tantrum about in the first place).

Stella is good about sitting down when I tell her too, whenever she is standing on the rocking chair or kitchen chair though.
