Juliana knows most body parts, even the more obscure ones (like chin) and will point to mine or hers when asked. I just started trying to teach opposites. She has a Dr. Seus book and if I say "Which one is the big fish?" and "Which one is the little fish" she'll point to the correct one, but I'm sure it's just from memorization and not from actually knowing what they are. I recently started counting to three when we see three or more of the same item in her book. I know it's early for that but it can't hurt. What are you teaching your LOs?

^^Such a smart little girl!
Caleb said "Hello" and "Banana" ("ello" and "Nana") for the first time today. I'm so excited to hear him learning words! He will pick up a remote, phone, or a toy, hold it to his ear and say, "ello".

Body parts (& when we say "Where's momma's nose" she also knows that it's my nose, etc.) and animals....she knows all the dog's names (including my parent's dog Sadie!)
I know it's early but I do shapes and colors. Oh, and she's gentle (most of the time) with her baby dolls...I always say "Love that baby" and she'll snuggle with it. I guess I want her to know that you have to be gentle with babies? LOL

Sophie recently started doing this too, but she goes "Hiiiiii" (in a long, drawn out, southern accent---like me, lol!)

Arie likes to "count" too, but her latest thing is to say "one" over and over again, and she says it in the funniest way, like "waaaaaoooooNNNNNN!!!!"
She has started putting different signs together, she will do 3 signs in a row but I don't know what she means exactly. Well, tonight she signed milk than pointed at me and then pointed at her rocking chair and that was pretty clear LOL
She is learning to put her duplos together and she has a shape sorting box. Sometimes she gets them in but I think she probably has to learn what the shapes are before she can figure out where they go. Probably closer to 2 I'm thinking but she's surprising me all the time.

Wyatt has a lot of body parts down...we are moving into more odd ones like knees and elbow a little.....and I try to take opportunity with his toys to name colors and shapes and numbers.....doesn't hurt to start the repetitive knowledge now we also just recently got really good at "knuckles" (or fist bumps)

Maggie is not easy to teach. She knows her eyes, ears, nose, mouth, hair, fingers, toes and her belly button (but only because we say ding dong and press it like a door bell). LOL
She knows what ducks say, what owl's say. She knows what puppies are. But we're still at a point where almost everything must look like a puppy, or quack like a duck.
She loves reading. And her favourite right now is mmmmm cookies by Robert Munsch. So, I'm guessing she will be a reader before she's got numbers down which was sorta like me. I've always been better with words than numbers. She could care less about shapes or colours yet, though I've tried. She is finally starting to fit shape blocks into their holes, but really, if it fits, it works. It's not about the shapes for her yet, just size. She's still very much into music. If I can find a way to make something rhyme or musical, she'll pick it up much faster.

I feel terrible. Vincent doesn't know any of this stuff. He doesn't identify objects or say any words (only repeats a couple) or even point to many things. It's not that I don't try, but I guess I'm not persistent enough even though I feel like I try all the time. I don't know what to do and now I'm starting to get worried after reading this.

As far as Juliana is concerned every animal is a bear, dog, or bird. At the zoo I had a very hard time convincing her the tiger was not a bear.

I think you do have to repeat yourself until you're bored to tears. Sometimes I think I'll go crazy reading the same book, or asking "Where's Juliana's nose?" for the millionth time, and I know my nanny does the same stuff as often as I do so I'm bored with only half of it. Keep at it and he'll get it!

Please do not feel terrible Michele!! (easier said than done I know) but honestly he will get it. Heck he is only 14-15 months. He is still a baby, just keep asking him and repeating the activites he will get it.
London knows some body parts and if I ask her how old she is she will hold up one! I am so proud of her for that becausee I have been working on this age thing since she was 10 months old..it took 5 months!!! lol.. She loves to sing and can also hum or try to hum itsy bitsy spider...so cute. She is talking more, but not to clearly. She also has learned how to roll her eyes at ME!! which is not cool..but at 15 months its the cutest thing...
