At what age would you let your kids:

1. Watch a PG movie?

2. Spend the night at a friend's house?

3. Stay home alone for 30 minutes?

4. Have an allowance?

1) I guess it depends on the movie. Grace's favorite movie is Despicable Me and it is rated PG. Grace is 3 1/2.

2) 7 or 8 years old

3) 12 or 13 years old

4) LOL..we don't do allowances but if we did I guess 5 or 6 years old.

4. Have an allowance? early....4 or 5.....this one I think is important to start early with...I think it will help to learn that good work earns things....

huh. I honestly don't think that there are specific ages where I would wait for a lot of things for Maggie to do.

I think of movies. And ya, she's already seen Despicable Me and that's a PG movie. There are plenty of shows too that are probably pg rated that she's watched. DH is a star trek fan and I know she's already seen those. I have dialed back the violence in what we will watch around her, but I find the ratings are a bit too arbitrary.

with overnighters and staying home alone and allowance, it will be whenever I feel she is mature enough to handle it. I remember being a latch key kid at 8 or 9. We'll play it all by ear. I don't have an issue with allowances, and I also think they can start as early as you can do it and be successful. Allowance can start at a quarter for small things that are age relevant.

2. Spend the night at a friend's house? I have no idea, I'm really not comfortable having my kids do this. I think I spent the night a couple of times with friends.

3. Stay home alone for 30 minutes? Around 11. This also depends on maturity level.

4. Have an allowance? 5-7 years.
