The trip was great! We had an ok time on the plane. Juliana was as good as she could have possibly been considering we had a 2 hour flight followed by a 4.5 hour flight, but it was still a little stressful doing it on my own. Then we had the rehearsal dinner on Thursday night and it was my first time going out and not getting home in time for Juliana's bedtime. This went fine. My mom rocked her to sleep and I got home about half an hour after she went to sleep. On the night of the wedding itself, my mom took Juliana to the wedding and left early (about 9:30) and Juliana slept in the car seat, then went back to sleep easily. I got home around midnight and Juliana started to wake up for the first time just a couple of minutes after I walked in the door. I stood there in the doorway for a while just to see what would happen. My mom was sleeping in bed with her and my mom was fast asleep while Juliana was starting to cry. I jumped in and nursed her back to sleep so she was happy. I'm just glad I got there when I did because my mom is a very heavy sleeper. Also, the day of the wedding was my first full day away from Juliana. All of the bridesmaids went to the bride's house to get our hair done around 9 am and were there all day helping the bride get ready. Even when I had business trips I came back to the hotel at lunch so I'd never gone more than about 5 hours without seeing her. I missed her but it was lots of fun to spend a day just hanging out with friends and not being a mom.

I'm happy it worked out the way it did, but I have another friend's wedding in November and another party the night before when we'll be out late. Based on what I saw happen (my mom sleeping through Juliana crying) I'm still a little uneasy about being out when Juliana is sleeping, but it will still be nice to be able to get out. I'm also really excited for our cruise in November! DH and I are bringing my mom to babysit so we'll have a lot of full day excursions just the two of us, but we're also taking Juliana on some of them.

That sounds like so much fun. I'm glad you were able to get a "break" from being a mommy.

I'm glad she did so well! Honestly, the more we're able to relax and get some me time, the better mommies we will be! So happy for you!
