Anyone giving their baby peanut butter yet?
Our pedi says to wait until 18 months to introduce it. Julia actually hates peanut butter but hopefully Ty will like it. The older kids eat it around him all the time and he doesnt seem to have any reaction to that, but I shall wait a few more months to give it to him.

Maggie's had peanut butter for a long time now. In fact, it's kind of a staple around here.
She loves it!

No - she tested allergic to it on her skin test at 12 months. she hadn't had any up until that point either. I was going to wait to introduce it (happy I found out she's allergic before giving it to her!). I used to eat it on toast around her before I knew she was allergic to peanuts. She never once showed any sign of reacting. The Dr has since told us it's possible those were the times she was "exposed" to it and hence triggered the reaction.
I miss peanut butter. I love peanut butter, but I've completely taken it out of the house all together. I see no need to risk it for her at this point.

Leah's been having it since 11 months. I didn't know about it until DH told me. She's been fine with. DH has also given her Nutella and Almond Butter as well. Our pedi is kinda opposite of a lot of others, and encourages her patients to introduce early. The only things she really tells us to stray away from are foods that pose choking hazards.

I'm to scared to give it to Maddy! Her Dr. said she strongly recommends to wait until Maddy is 2. I might try it at 18 months if I can gather the courage. lol. Nobody in the family has an allergy to it as far as I know, so I don't know why I'm so chicken. lol.

I think she got it first around 8-10 months??? Defininately before she was a year old. She eats peanut butter and almond butter all the time! I didn't like peanut butter until I was 11 and now I'm addicted!

We do almond butter because that's what DH and I eat. We haven't given peanut butter but not on purpose, we just don't keep it around.

Our pedi recommended waiting, but I gave it to Owen about a month ago. I have peanut butter toast every morning and he always tried to snag a piece. I finally gave in and let him have some and watched closely. No reaction & he loves it!

He's been having it for a couple of months now. We just spread it thinly on whole wheat toast.

Our doctor strongly advises we wait until 2. The biggest issue is that with a developing system they can develop an allergy to it being exposed too early. So just b/c they are showing no signs at the first or 5th time, it's not impossible that their little body can reject it at some point in the near future It's introducing it too early that can actually cause a nut allergy, so the pediatric allergist told me. I'm only saying what the allergist told me. Not trying to offend anyone. It basically just highlights why I'm neurotic and haven't given H any peanut butter yet.
That being said, I know he is not allergic. Hunter has grabbed London's pb&honey sandwich crust before and ran away. He does like it, and I know it's such a quick and easy solution to lunch that I can barely wait for!! I am gonna wait until he's at least 18 months though. I'm so paranoid. lol You should see what I do to grapes before he's allowed to have them, so he won't choke. hahahahahahahaha
Ally- I don't know how you're doing it. Tough Mama! Tough kiddo!!
