I think I witnessed Bishop have one last night

He started whimpering and stirring. So I got up to give him his bink but he kept it up. So I grabbed him and brought him into bed but not once did he open his eyes. At first I thought nothing of it just him crying and wanting to snuggle. Once we got into bed he really started freaking out. Crying very hard, screaming and thrashing about. Not once opening his eyes. I tried calming him down but nothing worked. He didn't respond to me talking to him (i know you shouldn't wake anyone up in a night terror) he kept it up for a good 5 minutes. It scared me so much! Jason was at work so it was just me. I finally was able to hold him to where he wasn't flailing and he calmed down and went back to sleep, well stayed asleep still not opening his eyes. I sat there for an hour holding him to make sure he was okay before putting him back to bed. He went back to bed and stayed asleep till 6am.

I don't ever want to watch him do that again

*hugs* those are never fun. I hope you don't have to go through that again.
We had a week where I think Rosie had them too. It was like clockwork and sometimes she had her eyes open but not be awake.

That is so horrible Trish! I'm glad Tyler is doing much better now, I couldn't imagine. So sorry you both had to go through that.

Lori, neither of Gage or Dane have had them before. I thought Gage did once but it wasn't.

HUGS! I hope this is just a one time thing for Bishop!
I went through night terrors with Tyler. They started when he was about 18months old and continued up until he had his toncils/adnoids removed. I think he was around 3. His would sometimes last 30 minutes or longer. It was crazy! He would freak out when I tried to hold him and he would freak out even more if I tried to leave. He would throw himself on the floor or just sit there and scream. I would sit there and cry with him. It makes you feel so helpless, because nothing you do makes them snap out of it. It just had to run it's course and eventually he'd fall asleep again like nothing had happened. Tyler would have these episodes quite often. We found out that he had sleep apnea and the trigger for him was the apnea waking him up and when he had interrupted sleep he would get these night terrors.
He was also sick a lot, especially with ear infections, so he was a cranky boy in the daytime because he didn't get good sleep at night and when he was cranky during the day he would get terrors at night. It was a vicious circle. But once we figured this out and had tubes put in his ears and removed the toncils and adnoids, he was like a brand new child. We have not had terrors ever since. I seriously try to block out that time of my life.

Eva had them for a while. They are definitely not fun. They say they are scarier for the parent than the child because the child doesn't remember them.

I am so sorry! I hope it never happens again. Caden had them until he was three I think. I still don't know what caused his, but dealing with them was awful.
