Does anyone's LO do this?

Lately I've noticed that Hunter will get up on both tip toes and walk around. He can do it for quite some time, but the majority of time he's on flat foot. It's only recently that he's doing it more and more. I don't know what to think about it. Worth a doctor's appointment? From everything I've read I probably should make one. It seems most likely that he's got a developmental disorder. He is still barely speaking. Won't even say the word ball, or no, or more. He used to say Mama and Dada, but that trickled off and he doesn't really say anything. The first word he really understood from me was "up" and he would extend his arms to be picked up, but he's never really done more than say "pa" with his arms up. I know he wants to be picked up, but he doesn't even do that anymore. I'm not worried per say, but I just wanted everyone else's opinions. Ok, I'm a little worried. Wait- hold the fort- he tries to say juice, but it sounds more like shoose (rhyming with goose).

Does he point at what he wants? I think my daughter's language development is pretty good but honestly the only world she really says confidently and often IS ball...except she says "ba!" She watches baby signing time so she knows a bunch of signs, and she has said words, or attempted to say words before, but she doesn't do it much anymore, she just points at what she wants. She says "dat dat dat dat DAT" all the time. And she'll make some animal noises. So all of this is to say that Hunter doesn't seem that behind on language lol. Does he seem like he's understanding you sometimes?

I just went to the pedi today for Leah's 15 mo appt. I brought up my concerns with Leah's speech, and she said that as long as she's communicating with you in some way, babbling, and attempting to get her point across, that at this point she wouldn't be concerned just yet. Leah babbles a lot, but only says like mama, dada, hi doggy, bus, and baba. None of her words are really spontaneous, more repetition. If I were you and you're really concerned, I'd take him in because your pedi may recommend EI. Personally I'd take advantage of it because I believe once they turn 3, you have to pay for it (lol I'm a cheapo). Does he babble?

Maddy is just like that. She does not talk much, and she stands on her tippy toes alot. My pedi told me she did not see any developing disorder. Its Maddy being Maddy. She does not point to things but she does try to get her point across. I was like you and worried like crazy. I drove myself crazy looking up stuff on the internet thinking the worst. You are his mother if you feel something does not feel right then get it checked out. I'm sure there is nothing wrong, he sounds alot like my LO. lol. And for him to say up and juice is good! Maddy only says ra and ba. She use to say mama and dady but she does not say that anymore. Maybe they just don't have much to say. lol.

I know I was not much help. I guess I just wanted to let you know that you are not alone!

Aaron has recently started walking on his tip toes sometimes and doesn't really talk. I think as long as they walk flat footed most of the time it's okay but I plan on bringing it up the next time I'm in the doctor's office just to be sure. I am getting concerned about his speech (or more of a lack there of) but he does get his point across and he does babble so I'm torn on how far to push EI.

I know this probably wasn't helpful, but know that Hunter isn't alone in the tip toeing and the talking.

I'm not sure what advice to give you. I just wanted to offer you hugs, and tell you that your boy is beautiful, and he's smart...If you're concerned, I'd say go see the dr. Worst they can tell you is that he's got some markers and put a plan together to find out more. Or they can tell you he's fine, and I'd love to hear that answer.

He does babble, but he only screams when he want something. He has been pointing since very early. I think he communicates fairly well. If he bumps his head or arm or something he'll come over to me whining and rubbing the sore spot. I think he tries to communicate with me, but I just don't get where the words are? I try to use simple sentences so he can pick things up, but he just isn't. I've asked my Mom to really try and track how often he's walking on his toes. I'm not overly concerned, but I don't want to put something off and later learn it was worth looking into. I do agree that its super cute though.

Thanks for all your advice, support and personal experiences and opinions. I needed them.

I'll probably just monitor it, and if it increases then I'll book an appointment before his 18 month well baby check up.

I would only worry if he only walks on his toes. It cold be a sign of hyper spasticity or sensory issues. But if he does both flat footed and on toes, that's normal. I know it's hard not to worry!

E doesn't talk much either.
