Do you guys cook for Thanksgiving? What's your favorite dish?

I'm trying to think of some new and interesting things to fix this Thanksgiving. I think I want to do some sort of cheesecake. I've been looking at tons of recipes on Pinterest, but I thought you all might be a wealth of knowledge, also. I'm not a big cook, but I love food

We've always spent it with family and this will be the first year that is not with family so I'm trying to figure out what to do too. But cheese cake sounds good to me.

Thanksgiving dinner at our house has little flexibility. I've gotten away with doing brussel sprouts and cranberry sauce with new recipes...and both have managed to win over previous haters!

Our standard menu is:
Turkey of course - we do a sausage and sage stuffing
Mashed potatoes with the obligatory pitcher of gravy
carrots with an orange glaze
turnips with brown sugar
brussel sprouts (usually just boiled with butter, but I won over some real green haters with a butter, brown sugar, and carmelized pecan sauce...and I sauted it all together)
cauliflower with cheese sauce (homemade from scratch)
cranberry sauce from scratch as well. I kick it up a notch with orange segments and pecans as well. Spiced with a dash of cinammon and nutmeg make a huge difference. I've even added raisins and diced apple! That was fantastic!
and usually brocolli too.

Pies are generally an after thought, but often present. No one usually has enough room left but they force it anyway. Pumpkin Pie, and Apple Pie are the faves.

How about Fluffy Pumpkin Cheesecake? It's a no-bake!

3/4 c pumpkin
1 (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
3/4 c confectioners sugar
2 TBS milk
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp ground cloves
1/2 tsp ground ginger
1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
1 (8 oz) Cool Whip, thawed
1 graham cracker crust

In a small bowl, beat cream cheese & sugar together till fluffy. Add pumpkin, milk, and spices, beating till creamy. Fold Cool Whip into pumpkin mixture. Turn into graham cracker crust. Chill about 5 hrs.

I've been thinking about this one, but it just seems so boring. I guess strawberries would dress it up a bit.

Food / Ricotta Cheesecake

That fluffly pumpkin cheesecake sounds super yummy!!

My mom still does most of the holiday cooking. I will probably take mashed potatoes or mac and cheese. Probably cook a dessert too.
