Holden had his 15 month check up today and he's doing really well he's 24.4lbs and 32 inches long! Anyways, as I was driving to the office I was thinking about the flu shot, thinking it would probably be offered and whether or not he should be vaccinated for it....I was kind of on the fence about it, but when they asked, I said yes..but now I'm kind of regretting it and wish I would have waited to make a more informed decision.
So, I come to you for help! I know there are some very different views on vaccines, and I guess I'm looking for reassurance that this was an okay decision, how have your kids reacted to the vaccine if you've had it done?

I don't do the flu vaccination. Only one of my boys has had it and it was because his immune system at the time was already low and I had to be talked into it. I'm not against it, but I never had it growing up and just never did it with my boys. I have caught flack for it though.
Dane had it once, he was fine afterwards. If you feel it is the best choice for you and Holden then don't beat yourself up! It's hard to say because every one of us has our own views and what feels to be the best choice for ourselves and families. I'm sure Holden will be just fine

I agree with everything Marisa said.
I also never got one growing up, so in part because of that Sam won't be getting any. But Sam is also not fully vaccinated to begin with.
It seems that if you do vaccinate, or if you don't you'll still worry and feel guilt.

I've been talked into the flu vaccine with Brendan as well. While I have felt some guilt about it, he's been fine. That being said, I am not sure I will continue to do it in years to come. I never had the vaccine growing up and never had the flu, so I just don't know what the "right" thing is.

I get it every year and Ellie had it last year and this year with no bad effects. I teach kindergarten and with all the germs floating around my class and Ellie at a babysitter with other kids, I just feel better getting it for both of us.

we don't do them, but my thought it, it's already done, no point in stressing out about it now. You have a year to do your research and decide if you think it's something worthwhile for your family next year.

We always do the flu shot. With 2 kids in school and the work Steven does we have constant health issues if we opt against it.

Both my boys have received the vaccine every year since they were born. And they've never had any reaction's to it. I have nothing against vaccines, but also understand those that are in to delaying them or not getting them.

We don't do the flu shot. I'm also delaying other vaccinations as well with my youngest 2.
My view on the flu shot is that in the past the years that I actually got the shot I got the flu anyway, and the times I haven't gotten it...some years I don't have the flu and some years I do. So from experience the shot has done nothing for me, since I got sick anyway the couple of times that I actually did get it. Therefore we decided against it. Considering that they engineer it a year prior to flu season and they don't even know at that point what strain is going to be out...what is the point?
For me the risks outweigh the benefit. That's just my opinion.
But like Ginni said, it's already done and there is no point in beating yourself up about it. I've never given it to babies before but my DD had it once when she was 5 (I was talked into it) and she was just fine.
Don't worry too much, just do your research for next year.

We did the flu shot with Hallie this year. She ended up with some sort of flu virus 3 times last year with high fevers. I hope to avoid it this year. She didn't have any reaction to the shot and did well.

I've gotten the flu shot for the past few years, no issues
Liam got it at six months and he got it again at his last appointment
many children die needlessly from the flu so if he has to get a shot to possibly prevent him from getting super sick or worse, sign me up please
he had no reaction either

We fully vax but he has not gotten a flu shot yet, nor have I. I don't know why I feel uncomfortable with it, I just do. I might get it at my Dr appt next week as I work at a Preschool but I would rather hold off on it for Jackson.
