I think we have a rat in our garage. I want to puke just typing it. Oh, I am just so horrified. I feel dirty and gross.

DH found a bunch of droppings in our garage.

I went online to read about getting rid of it and found out that our garage is like a rate haven. We keep our garbage out there because the dog gets into it in the house. We also have a huge mess of books on the ground because I keep all my teach supplies in there and they fell on the ground and I was afraid to move them because I thought poisonous spiders would get in there and of course DH would never think to pick them up.

I feel like a terrible, dirty, gross mommy now

Yikes! I hope you can get rid of them soon!

You are NOT a terrible, gross, dirty mommy Those nasty little rodents just don't know where they aren't wanted!

BTW, someone once told me that mice/rats hate the smell of the Original Scent Bounce dryer sheets. I don't know if that is true or not, but we put some in our garage and have never seen signs of any unwanted guests. It might be worth a try!

Bounce does work. We kept them in our vehicles when storing them since it was on a farm in a shed and never had any issues.

Rats and mice migrate to where its warm, and have a food supply. Doesn't make you dirty at all. But I grew up in the country so we always had mice in the house at some point.

Set some traps and put a lid on your trash so its sealed better and you shouldn't have anymore as long as you stop the food supply.

Oh and usually with rats, if you only noticed one then that was a scout so if you can get it fixed now before later then all the better. Because they usually migrate in packs IME and when that happens and one house gets rid of them then they move on to the next available house.
