Do you offer your LO choices...let them choose between two things to see which one they'd rather have? Do they often let you know what their preferences are when it comes to food, clothes, toys, books, etc?

I let Maddy pick out a few things. I let her pick out a book she wants me to read to her at night. Its kinda funny, because out of all her books she will ALWAYS pick the same one. lol.

LOL...ummm not in the way you describe it.

Maggie makes her own choices in a lot of things. If she wants me to read a book, she'll bring me the book she wants to read. Or if she wants to play with a toy, then she just does. But when it comes to meals, or bath time or doing something specific, there's never a choice spelled out for her. At meals, she either eats what's given to her or she is done and just won't eat. No alternatives are offered so to speak. That's not to say she ever goes hungry, just that what's presented is what it is. Usually if she doesn't eat a lot it's because she's already filled up on something else too soon before dinner. No choice is offered between what everyone else is eating, and chicken nuggets as an example.

He doesn't get many choices, except what he plays with and books to read. But other things he doesn't get a choice, however he does let me know when he doesn't want to do something or eat something.

I will let London pick what color plate she wants to eat on, which sippy cup and what book she wants me to read..that's pretty much it..It is so funny because when it comes to which sippy cup she normally always picks the same sippy cup. I normally will give her two choices. i.e red or blue plate..

I can't think of any choices I give her, but maybe because she is already completely running the show. Her books and toys are all at her level, so she is always playing with or reading what she wants. I don't give her a choice about what she eats, but if she is not eating whatever is on her plate, I will normally add something else after a few minutes.

Jr doesn't get a lot of choices during his daily routine except for playing with what he wants and things like that. Mostly we give him choices when we're buying him toys or clothing. We'll hold up a couple at the same time, and let him pick the one he likes. I'm determined not to start the food choice thing. I'm not a short order cook. lol
