My Lo vomited today, he threw up his entire lunch. then I gave him some water, and he threw that up. I talked to the dr. office and they told me to avoid water, and give him pedialyte, only a teaspoon every 15 minutes, then after an hour try saltine crackers. So I did all this and he is improving so far. I put him to bed for the night, but he is probably starving. Oh and I gave him tylenol after the crackers because he had a 99.9 temp & ear infection. My question is, how do I know when to start feeding him normally again? They told me to try jello and white bread toast tomorrow, and to avoid any dairy. So I figure I will do toast for breakfast then try jello a little later. Any tips of what else I can do?
A little history on this: My LO has had a cold since last Wed. On thurs, Fri, & Sat he had a fever. Last night (Sunday) he was great, and this morning he seemed fine but I took him to the dr. to have his ears checked, and sure enough he has a double ear infection. They put him on a new stronger antibiotic (because he has been on antibiotics 3 x's in the past 3 months for ear infections). I gave him the antibiotic at lunch, he ate good and took a good nap, then woke up at 4:00 and puked. It wasnt just 1 puke, it was like a few in a row which I thought was dangerous. That is what made me call the dr. and they told me to use pedialyte & crackers. I asked if maybe the antibiotic is causing the problem, and they think he just caught another bug. Honestly I'm really nervous to give him the antibiotic again, because it's just too weird of a coincidence that this just started.
Im so tired of my LO being sick, I don't think he has been healthy for more than a week since his 1st bday, it has been colds turning into ear infections, he gets better for a few days, then it all repeats itself.

I'd see how he feels this morning and introduce the foods and liquids slowly. Hopefully he's feeling better when he wakes up.
As far as the antibiotic....I dunno. I'd be suspicious too.
If he's having frequent ear infections I would HIGHLY suggest taking him to a chiropractor that works with children. A slight misalignment can keep the eustachion tubes in your ears from draining properly and make them retain fluid that gets infected.

I wouldn't think it would be the meds making him sick. Simply because he's been on them before and he hasn't had this reaction. It probably is just another virus. I'd start out with the toast and jello. Maybe try a watered down juice for hydration if he seems thirsty. Milk is bad for vomiting because it's heavy on the stomach and and just spoils itself and is horrible coming back up. And water has no value to it and is one of the worse things to drink when vomiting. It almost always comes back up. I really hope he feels better soon. I know how hard it can be to have a sick one.

If he threw up the water right after you gave it to him too, I'd vote for stomach virus and not the antibiotic. That's what Ellie was doing when she had a virus too. I'm sorry he's not feeling well!

Poor little guy and poor mommy. Sounds like a rough time for both of you.
I hope he feels better soon.
When Sophia got a cold last week I gave her a warm bubble bath (during the day- when she was super crabby/screaming and nothing could calm her down) and changed her clothes and bedding. It made her feel better at least for a little while. That's not that helpful for you but if you have the energy you could try it.

Thanks for the advice everyone. He is better today, no vomiting but he does have a fever. although the dr. doesnt consider it a fever unless it's over 100.3, but he is 99.9 and I know that's not normal for him. So far he has had white toast with jelly, crackers and a little Jello. So far so good!
