Does your LO put everything in their mouth? Mine does, literally everything. I think this is why he has been sick so often lately. So far I have not been too strict about stopping him when we are out at the library or a play date, but maybe I will from now on. How do you handle this when you are out with your LO?

For those who have older kids, do you remember when they start to grow out of this stage? My niece is 22 months old and doesn't really do this. I wonder if I can do something to break the habit?

Usually by 2 they stop putting things in their mouths. Well my 4yo still does now, but she's weird.
I remember when my oldest was sick one time and we had been in the ER and then went to a pharmacy to get her prescription. What was the first thing she did? Yup, she licked the counter. Eeeewwww!!! That's just kids. They do grow out of the sickness stage. To tell you the truth, my mother was super duper strict with me when I was little. I wasn't alowed to touch anything and she would disinfect everything. I was sick ALL THE TIME and even now get sick really easily.
As much as my older kids got sick all the time when they were little, by the time they hit 4 they had built up their immune system. Now they get sick for maybe a day or two and that's it. They usually pass it on to me and feel better. Hahaha!

Ellie really doesn't put most stuff in her mouth anymore unless she's teething. I think he'll probably grow out of it eventually.

Rosie feels its important to taste everything. We are working on it and she has gotten better but its still annoying. Its worse when she is teething.

It's not as bad now as it used to be when she was 1yrs old. Maybe she has tasted a lot of the things and knows what it tastes like already? Not sure. But when she encounters something new and interesting she will put it in her mouth. I try to just pull it away from her mouth and say "no" or "yak". Yesterday she ate some dry cat food. Gross! And at the playground she put the mulch in her mouth. Also GROSS!!!
